Beer* + limeade** = a Slandy*** = COLD, DELICIOUS HAPPINESS.

* Cheap/watery
** Odwalla or Newman's Own is optimal, but frozen-from-concentrate is fine
*** Like a shandy but BETTER.

Limeade with vodka or rum and some sparkling water or club soda is even better!

limeade:

1 cup of lime juice (6-ish limes)
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water

dissolve the sugar in the water by stirring it while heating the water. you now have simple syrup.
mix with lime juice.
add 6-7 cups of cold water and ice cubes.
fuck odwalla.

Odwalla adds cane sugar to its limeade, Newman's Own adds high fructose corn syrup. Simply Limeade also adds sugar. Lime juice naturally already has a small amount of sugar (fructose).

Remember #1 of the "10 Simple Things" to fix our food system - no artificially sweetened beverages!

Thank you for following #5, though -- it's Slog's first Meatless Monday! :)

Fill a pint glass with ice.
Then add 1 shot of Crown Royale Whiskey.
Then fill the rest with pineapple (sweet) or graitfruit (sour) juice. you'll love it. This is from a guy in his 30s, who has developed a good taste for alchohol. I'm not a kid.

@5: if you don't add sweetener then it's not limeade - it's lime juice and no one would drink it. cane sugar is "natural" is it not?

@8 & 9: My Costa Rican host sister and her friend drank these all last weekend. They also salted the rims of the glasses. I think the lime juice really helps the very cheap, very watery Costa Rican beer.

Apple cider (7 pct alcohol) plus limeade icecubes = even better.

Aah ...

The pause that refreshes, without the hoppy aftertaste and beer breath.

Slandy + Vodka = Run, Skip, Jump and Go Naked. Best drink name ever. Anyway, it's one canister frozen limeade in a blender, refill the can once with beer, once again with vodka. Blend (being conscious of the fact you just put beer in a blender) and enjoy.

A splash of Rose's lime juice also goes quite well with summery beers. In England it is known as Lager and Lime.
