The Capitol Hill Block Party Is Not Sold Out

Posted by on Sat, Jul 25, 2009 at 6:32 PM

I know KEXP just said that Block Party tickets are sold out, but they're not. Tickets are still available at the gate, and there are still plenty of bands to see (the Thermals, the Gossip, the Lonely Forest, Sonic Youth, Future of the Left, etc.).

And to catch up on what's happened so far, check out all the coverage on Line Out.

Oh, boy! Profiteer Meinart got us 56-year-old Kim Gordon and Sonic Seniors. Yeah, baby!

Well, not so much rain as a little tiny shower of about 10 minutes duration. But, considering we haven't had any measurable precipitation for about, like, three solid months, it was still very refreshing, like walking into the shower tent, but outside.

Fat chance I'll be going. Speaking of fat, Kim and Thurston need to get on the treadmill. At their age they need to take care of themselves like Madonna.

Fuck off @2.

I'll take Sonic Youth over some "one hit wonder" flavo'-o'-da'-month band any day of the week.

Get back to me when YOU'RE 56, still shredding strings and drawing crowds, m'kay?

Speaking of which, 'bout time to get down to the deck.

Signing off from the Annex Cat Bird Seat...

Of course it's not sold out. We're all broke and why pay for a whole day ticket when there is only one band I want to see and they probably played a short set? But damn, I really did want to see them... LOL... next year I guess.

I remember the day when you could buy a ticket for ten bucks and see Mudhoney, or The Melvins, or Zeke, or Hell's Belles. You could go to the beer garden and watch the show. The crowds were smaller. Today Meinart wants a bigger profit.

By the way, I was at the first show. It was free. Dan Savage was dressed in a white t-shirt and white shorts.

I drove from Kent up to Ballard to pick someone up at 7pm and i-5 was a Ghost Way. The signs that says "nn minutes to Seattle...were off...it took like 5 minutes to get there because there was ZERO traffic.

Can you say, Seattle is now Detroit...that lots of people have left and it's just beginning to sink in...

See other comment about I-5.

Everyone's left Seattle.

There's no use arguing...the population has shrunk and probably will continue shrinking until it's between 40 and 50 percent of its heyday.

Maybe you should think of leaving too...

Boycott the show. Only go to the true neighborhood shows. This show has been co-opted by profiteer Dave Meinart and The Stranger. Boycott their advertisers as well. Tell 'em why.

It must not be sold out because friends of mine at the show report actually having space around themselves and being able to walk around and breathe.

I'm actually for some crowd control at CHBP, but really, if this is the demand for the festival this year, this is the demand. If you don't finish in the black, you did something wrong.

$25.00 for two = 50.00

drinks and food another 50.00

total = a hundred dollars

why do we always end up at the same place?

rich non Hill folks abound and the bands are sucky.

I had a great time. Y'all are haters. Future of the Left gave Sonic Youth a run for their money. A Lonely Forest blow me away. Wild Orchid Children may be my new favorite local band. Jesus Lizard! Need I say more. I had a way better time this year than last. I will revoke all the nasty things I said about it last year. Thanks to all those who helped to make it happen. Srsly.
