As reported in Morning News, the National Weather Service says it's gonna be HOT this weekend—the hottest weekend all year?—but the forecasts now say 85 on Saturday and 90 on Sunday for Seattle. Pretty hot—drink some water along with that beer and wear sunscreen—but not THAT hot.
UW weathergod Cliff Mass says it's next week that's going to melt your face off:
We are on track for an extraordinary heat wave next week...or so the models suggest. We will have very warm air over us. However, to get the real record-breakers, strong offshore and downslope flow is needed and it doesn't look that such easterly flow will develop until mid week. One unusual feature of the predicted heat wave is its duration. Normally, our really hot (above 90F) periods are brief...this could last for days. More on this over the weekend...but be ready.
He also has some lovely photographs of the recent noctilucent clouds. Noctilucent! What a beautiful word.
And further down on the weathergodblog is this alarming tidbit:
2009 is the driest 20May-19 Jul period on record using the combined SeaTac/downtown observations.
