Your Daily Poll Dance

Posted by David Schmader on Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 10:00 AM

Here's a video you'll be seeing all over the goddamn internet all day, in which an entire wedding party busts a move on the way to the altar.

What's your take on the wedding-processional dance party?

Not only is it a Chris Brown track, but it's a Doublemint Gum commercial track.

I was skeptical and jaded at first but I have to say, it made me cry like a dork. Love should be celebrated in every way possible. The joy here is irrefutable.

It's not joy, REP, it's Jack Daniels.

Wow, it is true, white people can't dance.

But very sweet and funny.

My god, there's a whole epidemic of this on YouTube... "Funny" first dances and ridiculous entrances. Y'know, do whatever the hell you want for your wedding. But I reserve the right to ridicule your silliness.

I too was prepared to hate this video, but their infectious joy was sweet and endearing. And yet part of me still wants to see them mowed down by machine gun fire. There is probably a word in German for the emotion I am feeling right now.

@9: Even if there isn't, you could make one up and sound really smart dropping it in conversation.

This is another one of those polls where I want to pick "all of the above."

I thought it was fucking awesome.

Both hilarious and excruciating-like an episode of the The Office.

As much fun to watch as that Japanese girl yesterday meeting Harry Potter!! Best wishes to all involved.

I'm sure there was some serious pitting out once they got up to the altar.

But, unlike most weddings, this was original. I would've liked it even better if they did some sort of Bollywood mass-choreographed number with everyone at the front.

Oh, totally dorky, but yes, very sweet. Your wedding is not a time for irony, you know? And they weren't -- they all looked like they were having so much fun.

That was amazing, except the music choice.

But now I'm depressed.

Auto-tune has no place in house of God.

And that was less funky than the average black funeral.

But hey, it was fun. Good for them for doing something different.

Something old something new, something autotuned...

it's both exuberant and embarassing. good for them, but I'd like to see a black couple do the same type of thing to Jummy Buffet in the interest of cross-cultural parity.

PS- Reverends will put up with this but not gay marriages? hmm.

Goddamn it.
first the harry potter thing yesturday and now this.

I am losing my curmudeon-liness right and left from reading the Slog... perhaps I should switch to Faux news for a bit to get rid of this happy feeling.

Someday there will be a gay marriage version of this, but with much better choreography.

Fun - too long - the slow-mo stuff toward the end was dumb - I would have changed the music for the bride to make it more special for her - overall a success.

I can legally act as the "officiant" at weddings and have done quite a few. I'll keep this in mind when they ask me for suggestions.

I too am in the "I wanted to hate it but it ended up making my day" camp. If I ever get married I'd want it to be as happy as this.

Most weddings I go to lately seem to be a chore, something two people in love have to do. These people made it fun, so good for them.

That was pretty great. Damn. So fun and happy... I would so much rather see that at a wedding than another "love is patient" blah blah blah cookie cutter ceremony.

All you haters need to realize that it is yourselves that you really hate and I pity the rest of your miserable, meaningless existence.

I absolutely adore this. People are way too caught up in the traditions associated with weddings, and as a result you end up with something you've already seen a dozen times in your life. Totally forgettable. The only thing I would change is the song. It will probably seem very dated in the future. I say pick something classic... other than that, beautiful.
