Health Care Delay

Posted by Eli Sanders on Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 11:15 AM

The full Senate won't vote on health care reform before its summer recess begins on August 8, says Harry Reid.

But, the Senate Finance Committee (including, of course, Sen. Maria Cantwell) is still expected to release its reform plan before the Aug. 8 break. That gives them just over two weeks to do what three out of five committees involved in this process have already done.

It's pathetic that there is a summer recess. People need their government to work NOW.

sometimes i wish obama WAS a socialist. an angry articulate socialist who liked to kick the ass of old white senators.

the senate is the house of lords.

My God, how hard is this?
I bet they make deciding what to have for lunch a complicated process.

@4 the house of lords, but with actual power, thats the real disgrace. An institution designed to maintain legal slavery is the main obstruction to quality public policy.

News: Obama's speech is Ohio just now totally rocked. He actually sounded a bit....insistent....unyielding....ohmygod he just attacked republicans for saying they wanted to break him....now he's saying they want to break Americans who need health care reform!

wow lookit he's started ACTUALLY SAYING REPUBLICANS ARE BAD ...

Am feeling a tingle run up my leg....

he's giving them hell -- it's an ANGRY OBAMA!!!!

Wow, looking good, and the crowd loves it!

It's official at twelve noon on this day, in Ohio, Obama found his inner Harry Truman and abandoned that bipartisan thing.

About fucking time.

I, too, grow weary of the incessant comparisons to Hillary-Care, trying to evoke a visceral reaction from generalized anti-Clinton sentiments.

Democrats in Congress need to steer the national dialogue on this topic a bit more carefully and take ownership of it, or the opponents will reduce the discussion down to irrelevant insults.

My hope is that Obama's aggressive rhetoric is just him getting warmed up and that there may be more to come.

Plan for CEOs to profit while America burns:

1. stall single payer national health care.
2. watch America burn
3. ...
4. profit

and, just a question, why doesn't President Obama let them get home, have people back home yell at them to get back to work, and then RECALL THEM BACK IN SESSION AFTER A ONE WEEK VERY SHORT VACATION?

And tell them they can't leave town until they finish.

"If there's a blue pill and a red pill, and the blue pill is half the price of the red pill and works just as well, why not pay half price for the thing that's going to make you well?" -- President Obama

I thought the red pill makes him see reality for what it is, and the blue pill allows him to continue living in a pleasant world of illusions...

It figures that he would want to take the blue pill.

Most of your pills are placebos, YGBKM.

Which you'd know if you actually understood why Big Pharma is ripping us off.
