Biden certainly has a way with words. On Tuesday in Kiev, the VP was blown away by the beauty of Ukrainian women. She must have made a great impression. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko welcomes Biden to the country.
Indeed, it is very curious that the Discovery Institute (a conservative think tank) picked the rather racy image above for its story on the sexy Prime Minster.

It’s just as irritating for someone to pass judgment on the looks of a powerful, political woman if she’s attractive as it is if she’s unattractive. Particularly when it’s the VP of the United States making the pronouncements. It’s like saying, yeah, I know you’re the Prime Minister and all, but damn girl, you’re fine! It gives the impression that her appearance trumps any qualifications and accomplishments she may have.
Also, would Condi Rice or Madeleine Albright or Hillary Clinton go to another country, and come back saying that the President of Latvia is the “handsomest man in the world”? No, they would not. They couldn’t say anything like that and still be taken even remotely seriously. Somehow it’s more acceptable for a man to make a comment like this (though, I do recognize that because Biden is generally considered to say stupid things all the time, this makes it more acceptable for him to say this particular stupid thing).

Within the Conservative hate of sex, there is the conflict between their human love of sex and their religious belief is that sex is dirty.
Thus, open, healthy expressions of sex other than "this is my wife, we must have sex to procreate" are shut down by religious/cultural beliefs about sex, so the main outlet is the unhealthy: affairs, anonymous sex in bathrooms, exploitation of children, and posting provocative pictures without the conscious admission of their underlying sexuality.

The only thing unpredictable about this comment thread was the overabundance of fat-internet-kid "eh she's not that hot" comments and a relative lack of "OMG what does her looks have to do with her job" comments. But otherwise, pretty much what I expected.

@Gomez - I hated to be the "OMG what does her looks have to do with her job" person. But that's what I thought when I read this post. And, I have a difficult time not saying exactly what I'm thinking on Slog, so, so be it. BTW, she is actually pretty hot. But still, pretty stupid for Biden to say so.
