Every Child Deserves A Mother and a Father

Posted by on Wed, Jul 22, 2009 at 9:04 AM

Amazing that any harm could come to a child with two opposite-sex couples overseeing her care.

Three people have been accused of letting rats bite a 6-week-old girl and chew off her toes at their cluttered Ohio mobile home. Pike County prosecutor Rob Junk says the baby's toes on one foot were gone when sheriff's deputies went to the home Sunday after receiving an anonymous tip.... A married couple and the 18-year-old boyfriend of the baby's mother are charged with felony child endangering.

How horrible. No doubt they'll just have more children. I can't think of a punishment to fit such an awful act.

Just think of the stories she'll have to tell when she's all grown up, though. "Wow, what happened to your toes?" "Oh, rats chewed them off." Whew.

Seriously, though, these idiots need to be locked up until they're past child-bearing age.

Does anyone ever wonder if Dan's wet dreams involve two fat straight people throwing a child in a cage with a starving pit bull?

Did anyone see the story from Kentucky where a dog dragged a 4 day-old child from it's home, puncturing it's lungs and fracturing it's skull...
It was a Husky/ Shepherd in case anyone was wondering.

Some people should not be allowed to have children...or pets...urgghhhh.

4: No, but he'd view that story as a useful counter-argument to the idea that being straight automatically makes you a more fit parent than being gay.

In all honesty, I get the point that Dan is making by posting these and I agree with that point. But for fucks sake i really don't want to read any more of these stories.

Dan, this whole series made an excellent point when you first started, but at this point you just need to write a damn book about this concept and stop preaching to the choir already!

@6, It looked more like a wolf hybrid to me. A lot of people claim husky/malamute blood so they don't get to much unwanted attention for having a wild, dangerous animal. Beyond that, the 'dog' wasn't being aggressive with the kid, it was carrying it like it would a pup. If anything it was being affectionate/parental towards the baby. Unfortunately, infants are not as tough as puppies and they don't respond well to being carried in the mouth. The 'dog' in this case was being more attentive than the parents.

Yep, just verified on MSNBC, it's a wolf/collie hybrid, not husky/shepherd.

@11..you must be a member of Dogsbite.org. Every time a Husky or Malamute attacks, they falsely identify it as a wolf-hybrid.

Reading your 2nd post, I now KNOW you are from DB as you get your info from MSNBC.
Anyway it's a sad story that appears to be more about negligent parenting than anything else.

How could the neighbors not hear the child wailing while its toes were being gnawed off? And how could anyone not notice the horrendous filth that would have stunk up the neighborhood for it to get to a point where rats can infest and attack the child?

And wouldn't it take a while? Had they just left the baby home alone? Holy christ, what the hell is the world coming to????

@14, I remember reading a dog expert's commentary once on not leaving dogs with babies, since babies don't respond the way that puppies do. The dogs might naturally, without intending any harm, pick up the baby by the face or neck and shake it, which is apparently common with puppies and makes them quiet down. I read that probably 20 years ago or more, and I've always been cautious with dogs and babies, even when the dogs are bonded to the family.

I guess the issue is that the big breeds are capable of picking up a human infant and the small breeds can't.

@16..EXACTLY! It is impossible to know a dogs intentions, which may be far less menacing than we assume(even with pitbulls, people!)
Either way, the end result sucks for everyone. Moral of the Story= If you have a dog, be aware of what it is doing at all times. If you have children and dogs...don't leave them unattended/unsupervised.

Actually, Dan's wet dreams involve two fat straight Youth Pastors throwing a child in a cage with a starving pit bull.
