Banks!

A hard truth makes an appearance near the end of a post about the NRA's rare defeat: 7b09/1248297940-432945997_4c65ed6080.jpg

In consecutive days, the Senate has stared down both the military-industrial complex and the gun-rights lobby, two of the most powerful forces in Washington. Wall Street, of course, still has its way.
Wall Street is the king of the hill.

The Senate "stared down" the NRA? 58 votes is hardly staring anybody down. In fact, it was a majority the last time I checked.

Why is everyone so quick to ditch the second amendment? There is a reason the first amendment is the first, it is the most important right to carry on with a free democracy. The second amendment is a close second because if someone infringes on your speech you need the ability to defend yourself.

I am a bleeding heart liberal myself but I just don't understand how everyone can oppose gun rights like this. This is a pretty tame amendment about the reciprocation of concealed carry licenses. This is not about carrying automatic weapons or anything dangerous, it is simply so that when traveling state to state you don't have to hire a laywer to research exactly how or if you can carry a gun.

If you ban guns, hardcore criminals will still get them on the black market, organized criminals will still get them, and people who want to kill will still find other effective means to do so.

Banning guns just won't provide much positive utility, especially given all the negatives that would result.
