Today in Sandwiches: Excellent News!

Per the Seattle Times' indefatigable Nancy Leson: The owner of the I Love New York Deli in Pike Place Market (lauded recently in "Sandwiches We Have Loved: The Staff of The Stranger Sings the Praises of the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread") is taking over the Continental Store European Delicatessen space at 52nd and Roosevelt.

Those ladies at the Continental scare me (it just may be their unrepentant germanness), and I sometimes worry about the Schnauzer they keep tied to a chair behind the counter with a sweater. (he also wears a sweater.) May they enjoy their retirement, may their schnauzer prance freely, and may this new sandwich maker provide equally delicious potato salad!

I just walked by there. They'll be open for BREAKFAST, too! They've got the menu already posted on the window, and everything looks delicious! I can't wait until they open on the 27th! Just when it seemed the economy was taking away all the good businesses!
