Savage Love Letter of the Day

Posted by on Thu, Jul 16, 2009 at 2:41 PM

I was disappointed with your reaction during the Savage Lovecast to the guy who liked to feed his jizz to his dog. Sure, he was deceiving himself, but that doesn't mean you should repatedly berate him and his sexuality over it. I thought you were all about encouraging people to accept/love their sexuality, not render judgment on practices that deviate from your own. I hate to have to say this, but I think you need to hear it so brace yourself: Your response to that call reminded me of Bill O'Reilly.

Alex

Was I too hard on the guy who was called in to marvel about how his dog was licking up his jizz after he beat off... as if he were a passive participant in this business, a helpless witness to these lappings-up, and not an active and willing participant in them? Listen to the podcast here. Then vote!

"I thought you were all about encouraging people to accept/love their sexuality, not render judgment on practices that deviate from your own."

Because the dog consented, right?

There are an awful lot of really strange people out there who get off by doing some awfully weird-assed shit. On a scale of 1 to 10, I don't think this even moves the needle.

That said, this guy's a pretty fucked-up little wanker.

sometimes when i'm listening to the podcast on my way to work, i have a moment of panic wherein i'm certain everyone around me can hear what i'm listening to and they all think i'm a dog-jizz-feeding perv too. dan, as usual, you told him what he needed to hear.

(am i going to get fired for writing jizz-related comments on my work computer?)

I mean Dan does not use "perv" in a derogatory way. He did say "own it" and mentioned that the guy is abusing the dog.

I think he was spot on. The habit is absolutely gross, but not animal abuse.

What you really have to make amends for, Savage, is your support of the Iraq War AND going on John Carlson's show to talk about it.

Anyone who has appeared on KVI has ZERO credibility.

is there a reason why all of the "letters of the day" are responses to either podcasts or your earlier responses? why no new letters?

As I understand it, part of what gets kinksters off is the "forbidden fruit" aspect of their kink. In that light, Dan was kind to him. If he had accepted and validated that (utterly disgusting) kink, it might have lost appeal for that (utterly disgusting) kinkster.

I thought you were in an especially crabby mood in that podcast. But then I heard the doggie caller and figured, "shit, I'd be crabby too."

Seems to me this fits in the "How'd That Happen?!" file. The response was fine.

I think he calls it abuse because it is a sexual act and a dog cannot consent.

I'm glad you called him out on his bullshit. When he called it 'interesting' & 'funny', I wanted to retch. What did this guy expect you to say?

I thought he was responding more to the vileness of the guy's smug-ish bs attitude than to the "abuse" which face it, even if its creepy as hell, probably isn't doing the dog any real damage.

Sorry, that the guy is *NOT* abusing the dog.

A dog consents by eating the stuff. I don't understand this "can't consent" BS. Is doggie-on-doggie sex rape? No. And it's got significant consequences for the dog (puppies!), unlike this weirdo's habits. Unlike intoxicated or underage people dogs won't wake up or grow up to consequences or emotional trauma or regrets. If the dog comes and sticks around willingly that's consent.

However any force used on the dog, or acts that can cause pain or fear IS abuse. Also, dog being able to decide whether he wants to stick around does not mean the act is not gross gross GROSS.

You didn't condemn the habit so much as his refusal to own up to it, and you've consistently been accepting of people's sexuality but not willing to tolerate them refusing to take responsibility for it.

This person missed the point entirely, as you suggest: it's about him blaming his kinky shit on the dog, not about wherever his semen ends up.

Your response was spot-on: humorously taking him to task for what he probably knew he was doing anyway. At the time, I actually assumed you played it for the laugh, considering your normal aversion to answering calls/letters that are probably fake.

And I thought it was really gross when a guy I dated licked his own jizz off of me...ewww. I told him it grossed me out and he did it a second time.
I still get heebed out thinking about that.
But a dog doing that takes the cake

I see nothing wrong with licking up your own jizz or your partner's jizz.

That said, I also let my dog get away with eating a lot of strange things (drop a piece of vegetable in my kitchen and he's eating it) and try to prevent him from eating other things (random trash on the street, dog poop).

There was an incident where one of us shot onto the floor and the dog waddled over to check it out. We shooed him away. Had he got to it, it wouldn't have turned me on or grossed me out. And it wouldn't have been abuse.

That guy should go fuck himself and leave the dog out of it.

Dan handle it just right. He didn't call it animal abuse, but it is a kind of abuse because this guy was taking advantage of another creature. It didn't hurt the dog, but it's like making a bear dance - you keep a hot plate on under it and while the bear might not get hurt-hurt, it's still not right.

I want to know the level of jerking off skills he has to have to be laying out helpless like that while the dog comes and licks his spunk. How powerful and massive must his orgasms be to not even lift a finger or say "Shoo"? I wish I could have orgasms where I can't possible move for...how long did it take the dog the first time to go up to his owner and lick his hand again?

@22. Putting a bear on a hot plate DOES hurt the bear. Physically. The animal is in pain. I have never heard of this practice, I hope you made it up.

kinda seems like an overly analytical reaction by the commenter. bc no, it isn't "abuse" in that i don't see how it's actually going to harm the dog, but at the same time the guy needed a little what-for. so it seems more like the protester got the lines crossed, thinking "dan was technically erroneous in his advice" is the same thing as "dan is a hypocrite"

Sorry Julie...there are some things about men that are guaranteed to gross you out. Us eating our own jizz is one of those things...I don't do it myself (and I'd be honest if I did) but I know lots of guys (gay and straight) who cop to beating it and eating it.

@26: Isn't someone else's actually *grosser*, since they contain bacteria foreign to your own body, etc.? I don't understand.

I'm pretty open minded, and generally pretty gross, but eating one's own jizz just seems so wrong.
After discussing my ex-jizz eater with 3 friends, my hairstylist, and my husband, we have come to the conclusion that he was merely a narcisist who couldn't let something from his precious bod go to waste.
EWWWWWW

Julie, you seem a bit prudish to me. Dan, I thought you were too hard on dogs in general. Yes, they are gross creatures, but they evolved eating our garbage. Let's give 'em a break, okay?

Danīs reaction to the jizzfeeder was hilarious. Yes, it did seem as though the guy was enjoying it. I wouldnīt really get off on such a scene, but if he likes it and the doggie likes it, then live and let live! who are we to judge them?
Why are you all being such prudes about it?

@ 35..I have no problem with jizz...on the bod, in the face in the mouth,etc... but WHY would someone want to eat their own? THAT is just creepy and ewwww.
Posted by julie russell http:// on July 19, 2009 at 9:43 PM

@36: I guess I just don't get the 'ewww' here. I get the ewww about one's piss or feces (granting that not everyone feels that way). Because my own piss or feces are 'ewww' to me, I would expect it to be 'ewww' to my sexual partner (granting again, that some might have strong attraction to piss and feces). Similarly with jizz: If it's ewww, disgusting to me, I assume it's ewww disgusting to others. But if it's not ewww disgusting to others (which seems to be very common), why is it disgusting to me? I think under this idea of eww, lies some deep discomfort with one's sexuality. Or something else--it's worth thinking about, don't you think? There might be another explanation that I'm missing, I admit....

Again..jizz in general...not ewww...but eating one's own just seems to go against nature...or, maybe not, my doggies sure like to eat their own eye boogers. But anyway, maybe I am a big old prude.
Whatever the case, I do not want to see someone eat their own jizz in front of me..ever again.
