Meanwhile in Portland

Posted by on Wed, Jul 15, 2009 at 12:15 PM

Tom Potter, whose term as Portland mayor brings the words abject failure to mind, has thrown his support behind the recall of his successor, Sam Adams, albeit lamely, through an announcement on his wife's Facebook page.

Adams was recently cleared of criminal wrongdoing in the Beau Breedlove bathroom kissing escapade, and is mainly now scuttling around Portland hoping the passage of time will do for him what it did for Bill Clinton (preferably in time for him to accomplish something meaningful as mayor). As the recall effort is being led by political neophyte Jasun Wurther, most Portland insiders give it little hope of making it to the ballot, and are therefore keeping their own views on the subject quiet. But the endorsement by the politically tone-deaf Potter may in fact be good news for the pro-Sam community.

I'd be more interested if you reported on the things he was doing as mayor rather than who was trying to point out whom he was doing as mayor. Not much, but some.

(Protip: funny pictures will make people pay more attention)

Tom Potter supports the recall? Oh, then it will certainly fail.

I remember yelling at a grumpy looking Potter, "WHY ARE YOU STILL MAYOR?" once. He rolled his eyes so hard it was humorous.
