Please, Sir...

Do you know about Empire Ice Cream? All local, and reportedly yummy. They're at the U District and Magnolia farmers markets on Saturday (Seattle forecast: 85 degrees), and Ballard on Sunday (71). Take it away, Empire:

Mulberry Ice Cream

In Charles Dickens’ “Nicholas Nickleby” Sir Mulberry Hawk is a lecherous old guy who spends most of his time in the novel trying to put the moves on Nicholas’ sister Kate. Kate is having none of it. She rejects him with this Dickensian smackdown, “I hold you in the bitterest detestation and contempt, sir.” Ouch! Seriously, somebody has got to come up with a reality show starring all Dickens characters. I can see it now, “I came here not to make amicable acquaintances. Nay, I came here with the sole intention of leaving victorious.” I’m sure that would be a ratings bonanza. Or not. Anyway, come try some of this delicious, fruity dessert and I’m sure you’ll be all “Please, sir. Can I have some more?” And, because we’re not running a squalid, 19th century orphanage, our answer will be “Yes. Yes you can.”

Also on the menu this week:
Bleu Cheese with d’Anjou Pears and Caramel
Brown Sugar
Cherry
Cherry Brown Sugar
Raspberry
Strawberry
Strawberry Basil
Chocolate Ice Cream with Nibs
Fresh Mint with Chocolate Chunk
Cherry Sorbet
Apricot Sorbet
Strawberry Rhubarb Sorbet

More worthwhile reading on their Flavors page here.

OMFG! Why must all Seattle ass creameries offer such a variety of unique but dull flavors!?!?
Can you put some fucking CHOCOLATE in your ice cream? If I wanted health food, I wouldn't be eating ice fucking cream!!!

Not to ignite a shitstorm of SF vs. Seattle, but can't someone try and make some delicious sweet flavors, like CINNAMON SNAP or CHOCOLATE CARAMEL CRACKLE?!?!
I'm not asking for 50+ flavors (like The Best Ice Cream in the world from Mitchell's), just something besides snickerdouchel, hazelnut, and mint sorbet, fer fok's sake.

I can’t say I am as big of a fan of Dickens writings or characters, but if one has ever tried Empire Ice Cream I wouldn’t think they would be asking for Chocolate. The Chocolate with Nibs is over the top delicious in my opinion. As for the sweet flavors? I have found way more than one choice to satisfy many cravings. I am by no way trying to push unwanted advice, but only as a suggestion, if you are bored reading articles on ice cream or any other topic, just skim over them and save your energies for the ones that tickle your fancy. …but is it really necessary to bad talk the writer or the ice cream for that manner? I personally like to have a pulse on the new and even the old and repeated sometimes as my schedule does not always allow me to read them all in real time. I hope if I am ever in the SF area I will give the other place a try (even with the off color blogmercial).

So to Bethany (who ever you are) keep writing on any topic you chose. It really is appreciated by some. ...and for Empire Ice Cream, don’t compete. Just keep true to your creations and I wish you nothing but success. I wish all business owner success in this economy, especially those that keep it true to supporting local merchants. …but Empire, you sure do sit at the top of my list of delicious. I personally cannot wait to taste the Apricot Sorbet. I heard it is one of the truest apricot flavors ever. Oh, and the Mulberry I picked up in Magnolia Saturday was a huge success on my fresh made raspberry pie. The color the flavor combo… yummy!
