Belated "Thanks For Coming to Slog Happy!" Post

Posted by on Fri, Jul 10, 2009 at 12:51 PM

I meant to say this before noon, but thanks to everyone who came out for last night's Slog Happy at Captain Blacks! We took over the entire back patio, ate a lot of cheese curds, and drank a lot of mojitos—I had an excellent time, and I hope you did too.

Rhett Oracle and Jeff Stevens were the winners of the No Depression Fest and Block Party tickets, respectively, so congrats to both of them! And I hope the rest of you at least got a free book or some delicious tea (courtesy of Abby) as a parting gift.

Also: I will never, ever eat Sour Patch Kids Chillerz ever again in my life. Holy shit, were those things gross.

Now on to even more important matters: Where should we have August's Slog Happy?

FWIW, I've been a rabid Sonic Youth fan since 1987, so the Block Party tickets were not given away in vain. W00T! W00T!

While I'd like to say Pony, I'll only support Slog Happy there if there's a deck. It'll be August in Seattle, for Chrissakes. Remember the sweat box that was Shorty's last year when we all crammed in there?

The Lookout (née Artemis) on Bellevue - they now have a great back deck that 'looks out' - terminus of Metro #14.

And won't the sound transit station be open then?

@6 Haha, you're right. I did ask for them. And I'm glad I got to try them and find out how gross they were, otherwise I would've continued to wonder if they even really existed. Thanks for bring them! It's not your fault they're gross.

Will, are you under the impression that the Sound Transit station on Capitol Hill is opening soon?

Damn, I've been meaning to come to one of these for months, but this was the first one where I had no good excuse. (I wasn't feeling social, which isn't really that good of an excuse).

Anyway, I really want to come to the next one. As long as it's on a bus line, I will!
