The ongoing trend of porny fast-food ads is no stranger to Slog. This morning, ABC jumped in the ring, running a news story and a Good Morning America segment featuring extensive clips and light discussion of the porny trend. (For a handy overview of the fast-food-porn genre, proceed to the GMA clip.)

And now I turn to you.

What's most offensive about hyper-porny fast-food ads?

Yes, I roll my eyes at how infantile and cheesy these ads are. I don't eat fast food. I don't really relate to the demographic this ad is geared towards, despite ostensibly being part of it (younger straight guys.)

And yet somehow, whenever it inspires long harangues about The Patriarchy and The Sexual Objectification Of Women, it makes me want to ... go eat a burger. While watching porn and playing an XBox. Simultaneously.

Truly, my answer would have been "the conflation of cheap, disposable food with cheap, disposable people" but it's not an option. I suppose the closest is "The sexual objectification of women" but that's not really it. Fast food is a cipher, a placeholder in terms of food in general. The ads glorify that--meaningless food! Meaningless sexiness! Meaningless people! Hooray!

Literally laughing out loud...

This post did more for my morning than my coffee did.
Thank you.

What's most offensive is that they're eating corpses. What the fuck is with that, and why is that allowed on TV? If Axe is promoting centaur fetishes, fast food is promoting necrophilia.

I don't mind the corpses; what I find offensive is ABC News and Good Morning America. Disgusting.

If God doesn't want us to eat animals, why did He make them so tasty?

Lizzie, would you rather we eat them while they're alive?

So far, 29% agree - not enough anal.

@6 I thought the corpses were the ones eating...

I'd like to choose "all of the above," plus the bonus option "The unfortunate juxtaposition of sexy people and gross food."

I saw the Audrina Partridge one the other day (that's her name? who knew...). All I could think about was how she probably spat out that burger after every take. So, my vote is number three. With a little smattering of "it's apparently not enough for women to juts be skinny, we also need to be skinny and be able to eat cheeseburgers all the time."

I voted for "Not enough Anal." Why? Because these commercials lack an exit strategy.

I would be most pleased if nothing were ever again marketed to young males.

Are they offensive at all? Isnt over-eating a fetish? I'm pretty sure that people who REALLY love to eat have dedicated a lot of energy and life to eating, and that parallels a fetish to me.

Why all the hate on the eaters?

Lizzie @6... you DO realize plants were alive before you killed them and ate their corpses right?

The irony... we (the omnivorous members of the community) might think you're stupid, self-delusional, and deranged (possibly as a result of a lack of key essential nutrients like B12 and iron) but I've never in all my life seen, read, heard of, or even had suggested to me as a worst case possibility that anyone has ever wanted to force you to eat meat.

So... why is it you can't show us the same courtesy? Oh yes, because you want to protect all the living beings of the world... well, except plants they can die. And fungi like yeast (since thats basically your only source of B12). Oh and anything currently living in the field that contains those plants, those creatures can die during harvest. And any living creature that comes into your home like mice, spiders, ants, roaches etc. Those have to die immediately if not sooner. Did I miss anything on the 'ok to kill' list?
