Because There's Nothing More Fun Than a Digitally Added African-Canadian Guy

Posted by on Tue, Jul 7, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Canada's National Post reports on Toronto's digital addition of a black guy to the cover of the city's Fun Guide, to be more "inclusive."

Thanks for the heads-up, MetaFilter (which took care to remind us of this Oniony precedent.)

What's the difference between this and your employment of Charles Mudede?

Oh MAN, I love seeing reposts of funny news from three weeks ago! I am LOL-ing!

Well, @4, I guess you could only read Mudede's posts. That way you could get not-very-funny news that's only three days old.

Another way to look at it would be they had a picture of a black guy and photoshopped in some white people.

I find it telling that you automatically assumed that it was the black man who was photoshopped in.

Why do you have to be so racist against black people all of the time?

Jeez, Fun Guide, if you're going to do that, at least put some effort into it. That looks awful.

I am offended by the lame Photoshop hatchet job.

It reminds me of a simpson's episode where there are before and after images of the town being cleaned up and a homeless guy gets photoshopped into a mailbox.

It's an ad, not journalism. Ads are Photoshopped all to hell every day of the week. Find me one major ad that HASN'T been Photoshopped. This is non-news.

It is, however, a terrible Photoshop job. Their graphic designer should be fired for incompetence.

Nobody has yet commented on the racial undertones of turning the WHITE sky into a blue one...

There's racism everywhere if you look hard enough.

They at least could have 'shopped him staring at something other than his wife's tits. Oh and sorry, guy, you don't appear to be the the father.

@12: I was reading his expression as "Why the hell are these crazy white people hugging me? Better plaster on a fake grin and hope they let go soon..."

Oh, wait. That came after the Onion. Which was also headquartered in Madison. Coincidence?
