I think this quote from the article best sums up the crazy in the Tea Party movement:

"Now suddenly we tell you that you have to wear your seat belts or someone is gong to come racing down the road and fine you." - Minnesota Rep. Mary Seifert, portraying seatbelt laws as harbingers of fascism.

HOW THE FUCK DO THESE PEOPLE GET ELECTED TO PUBLIC OFFICE??? It absolutely boggles the mind.

I like how they quote Victoria Jackson. I knew she was a fucking moron from back when I watched SNL in the late 80s early 90s, but now I also know she's fucking nuts too.

Victoria Jackson... sigh.

In other news, Toonces the Driving Cat piloted a vintage automobile off of a cliff, in order to make a statement about the Obama administration's economic policies.

@1: That was a shock to me too.

Like @3, I knew that she was a few marbles short, but I didn't realize that she was a right winger.

@2: I agree that it is shocking that people will vote for teh crazy like that.

Just to prove a point, Al Franken should debate Victoria Jackson on SNL's season opener.

@6 - that'd be pretty cool. Notably, though, just one of those vintage SNL cast members now holds a major elected office...

Wait, they think we should impeach Obama?

For what? Being a Democrat?

When you bring your crazy aunt to the party, don't be surprised when she shits in the punch bowl.

Kleefeld's headline sort of begs the question: "When did the GOP EVER have control over tea-baggers?"

The tea-baggers care nothing about spending or taxes or the stimulus bill or whatever. If they did, they'd be protesting all the mega-corporations as well. Instead, 100% of their anger is focused squarely on Obama the person.

No, they're just pissed that their guy for president lost and now they're whiny and pouting about it.

Urgutha @ 14: I think you nailed it. Best wishes to all.

But lo, the movement was over almost as soon as Fox News had started it, as the Tea Party in Las Cruces violated Godwin's Law and compared Obama to the Nazis: http://www.lcsun-news.com/ci_12755914
