Posted by Charles Mudede on Sat, Jul 4, 2009 at 8:23 PM

The cause of Steve McNair's death is beginning to look like fatal attraction. Her name is Sahel Kazemi.

Ah -- humans. No matter what happens, we want a story. A neat tidy one to, with a start middle and an end. Forget about the complexities, the nuances, the parts that make each of us unique -- we just want to roll down the same tired road, time after time.

If McNair had a handgun, he could have saved his and the woman's life.

Yeah, Max, I just hate it when handguns jump up on their own and start shooting people. We should definitely ban all inanimate objects, because, you know, it couldn't possibly have been the irresponsible behavior of a person that was the cause of this.

This is so bizarre.
And totally unpredictable.

Because
Extramarital Relationships
are the key
to happiness
and marital success.

I mean;
who ever heard of someone
getting hurt
over a little nookie on the side...

What a sexist, patriarchal-crap post. And in so few sentences, no less.

Stop and think, please.

Nothing sexist or patriarchal about it. He couldn't keep his dick in his pants and it got him killed. Simple as that.

@9,

Not necessarily. Plenty of people who are stalked don't have a sexual relationship with the stalker. Or they only had a minimal amount of contact/interaction with their stalker (as in the barista who makes their daily latte, or someone who only went out on one date with them or somebody who 'friended' them on Myspace, the list goes on). The "relationship" usually exists only in the stalker's head. Stalkers have personality and mental disorders and more than half have drug/alcohol abuse problems. 87% of stalkers are men, and 80% are white, 50% are between the age of 18-35 years old. If your stalker doesn't fall into that category, the criminal justice system won't take your case very seriously if/when you report it.

52-80: it's the CONVENIENCE of the handgun that is the key. animating it to deadly force is so much easier than other inanimate objects - i.e. a tricycle, a spork, a throw rug.

"you're just fucking me because i'm a 20 year old persian hottie? that hurts my FEELINGS! i must hurt you back." blam blam blam.

Well, yes and no, Max. I think you'd probably be amazed at the sheer variety of things people use to do other people in. When somebody's pissed enough, it doesn't seem to make too much difference what's at hand - kitchen knives, ashtrays, paving stones, I've seen it all. Dead is dead. And that inanimate object is still an inanimate object.

Ashtray vs gun: which is more likely to kill me without giving me a chance to fight back. Um yeah, I think I'll take the ashtray. (And the knife, and the tricycle, and the rocks, and the lamp, etc etc infinity.)

16: 74-75% of homicides are caused by guns. Don't you think it's slightly suspicious that the vast majority of murders use this one inanimate object and not ashtrays or kitchen knives?

we all know there was no murder or human vice of any kind before handguns were invented by Republicans

Max is an anti-gun knob.

If guns were illegal for civilians, people who wanted them would find the necessary channels to get them. And most criminals would definitely get their hands on them anyway. A ban prevents little crime.

If she wants to kill him and doesn't have a gun, she probably stabs him or poisons him... or any one of many other methods to kill somebody.

Guns should NOT be illegal. If the police and military have them, civilians should be able to as well. Having said that, the "guns don't kill people" crowd are full of shit. Guns ABSOLUTELY kill people.
