Wailin' For Palin

Posted by Paul Constant on Fri, Jul 3, 2009 at 2:10 PM

Sarah Palin's announcement that she's resigning just made Mitt Romney's decade—he's the one to beat in the 2012 Republican primaries now.

But we don't need to speculate about elections right now, do we? It's July 4th weekend! It's time to celebrate! And what better way to celebrate than heading over to Conservatives4Palin.com and reading Palin fan reactions to her announcement?

Chris Wallace on Fox can't understand why she would make this announcement just before the 4th of July weekend......but think about it......what will everybody be talking about at their BBQ's and at their Tea Party's?

They'll be talking about Sarah!

Smart lady!

Much, much more schadenfreude after the jump.

You guys all need to calm down. Palin has the best political instincts of anyone we've seen in years. We certainly don't have all the details. Wait, until we hear from the governor herself.

Many of us said all along, that we would support her regardless of what she decides to do. To me, that includes whatever she is doing today.

Yes, I still want her to take Obama out....but we'll just have to wait and see.

thank you for this day and everything you have in it
Lord, please watch over Sarah Palin and her family. Please give us the calmness and ressurance that everything will be done to your will. For Your will is the only one we need to follow. Please help Sarah become the best she can be- in Your own eyes
Amen

Folks. This is no time for negativity. Sarah Palin is going into the wilderness.

Think Moses, Jesus and Ronald Reagan.

This is the beginning of the taking back of America.

I will explain her decision once I have had time to reflect on it, but remember I was way ahead on this. So if you feel like shooting the messenger feel free.

okay folks, I'm a 43 year old dude who up until 2008 never really got into politics (with the exception of Reagan). After what I heard, I blubbered like a baby. I haven't had this kind of passion in a long, long time.

I've had a beer...feeling better now.

I think she is paying her dues now. This the grubby time of kissing the ringhands and making the rounds.

Empire Strikes Back time now....

You know what? I don't give a flying flower what the media says anymore. Sarah has removed herself from all that, she is forging her own path, and she has rendered the system powerless. Let them stomp and holler and declare their victory. (I don't like to swear in print, but this is a special occasion.)

As Rhett Butler would say:

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

July 3, 2009 4:32 PM

Amen!

I've already seen one Palin '12 bumper sticker here in Seattle. She's doing this to concentrate full time on her campaign. She already has all the national exposure she needs, being governor of Alaska is actually a distraction from the campaign. Plus she still has a lot of studying to do just to get to Dubya's knowledge level when he ran!

Remember when Al Gore went to the sidelines, avoided a lot of the early mud-slinging, and was urged to return to the fray? Maybe Palin wants to claim to leave politics only to be "drafted" by an adoring mob. Al didn't accept - Sarah would.

Obama just lost his "heat shield".

A non-visible Palin means that we can start blaming him directly for the worst economic performance during a President's 1st term.

Bush: 8 years of prosperity

Obama: 8 months of misery!

The breathless anticipation of the comments posted before the speech are even better:

"gardunne63, July 3, 2009 2:31 PM

She's announcing that SarahPac raised 40 million dollars in seven months and that she will be sending out the map for pilgrammage that all pundits and back-stabbing politicians will have to undergo to come up to Juneau or Wasilla to kiss her ring."

This is so good it just has to be fattening.

Those comments are great. It's like a staged social commentary art piece.

To me it seems obvious that she's gearing up for the 2012 presidential race. She will now be able to spend time in D.C. and campaign in New Hampshire and Iowa without people accusing her of not doing the job she's currently elected to. All this was already assumed would happen.

@37: I guess she misses the fact that now those people will accuse her of abandoning the job to which she was elected.

@33 You beat me to the punch! The pre-speech comments are sublime. But the best best BEST part is around 3:23 when she actually resigns. At this point, some of the dumber ones still think this is good news, but for the rest reality is just setting in. Its like you can see their little right-wing hearts breaking in real time
