Your Daily Poll Dance

So here we are on July 2. The job market is unpretty, California's about to implode, and North Korea's launching missiles. Still, kittens remain cute, India has decriminalized homosexuality, it's sunny outside, and if you're reading this, you're not dead. (Hurrah!) And so I ask:

If your current mood had a smell, what would it be?

I have the pressure of the bottom of the ocean behind my nose and eyeballs.

my puppy rolled around in something dead (doggie perfume), so currently her little neck is quite stinky. Which matches my mood perfectly...

For a minute I thought that "A sharpie" was "Al Sharpie," some sort of adorable diminutive Al Sharpton. That is what my mood smells like.

For a moment there, I felt less like I was reading the Slog and briefly thought I had fallen into some Shel Silverstein poem.

Far out idea for a survey, man. Far out.

"So, what are your demands?"
"We need more lemon pledge."
"Isn't that something you should bring from home?"
"No... no..."

For the purposes of this survey, I've decided that fear smells like coffee breath.

I picked Big Red gum, positive, happy, and spicy.

I'm just thankful that I have health insurance with vision coverage, my ever unstable vision is now -17 and I need a new pair of contact lenses to see.

Big Red Gum...because I didn't sleep much, I have a job interview, running on nervous energy, and have been drinking a lo-carb Monster for about 30 minutes. It is 3/4 gone.

Besides:
Everything is thuper when you're GAAAAAYYYYY!!!

Kim @ 10 -- That's crazy! I've never almost-met someone with worse eyes than my mother. Would lasik help? Even like half, or something?

My mood is fresh bread, but I'm afraid I just had a soy latte so I probably have coffee breath.

Tizzle @ 12,

I have congential deformities. Many years ago lasik wasn't an option, maybe the technology has improved now. I understand the worse the myopia the more the cornea has to be shaven off to improve the vision.

Kim, I had LASIK some years back, and for me, it worked wonders. Almost all opthalmologists who perform LASIK procedures give free consultations to determine if you're a suitable candidate. Lasers are the best way to alter corneal configuration, so I'd suggest talking to a good opthalmologist.

My actual answer would be 'Vanilla Hazelnut', the scent of the cream I just rubbed into my shins... Yum!

Oh, and it amuses me that Coffee Breath is the top answer. How very Seattle.

@Kim.
Every case is different, of course. I would never have done the surgery 10 years ago. But I will say that it's the best $4000 I've ever spent; I did it a year ago. I was a -8.5, give or take. My mom has had many eye problems, I can never remember what they are all called, but in addition to other surgeries (glaucoma maybe is the most recent one), she has finally done the Lasik, in one eye anyway, and can see fairly well now. I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't working for her. Once she finishes in the fall, she should be able to read street signs for the first time in 20+ years.

Doesn't cost anything to look into it. (Side point: Don't listen to people who have had perfect vision their whole life tell you of any horror stories, they have no concept of evaluating the risk since they can see. Maybe it's just me that gets uninvited opinions?)

Geni @ 16 and Tizzle @ 21,

Thank you for sharing. I will have to inquire again. It was recomended to my husband, - 9, but not for me last year. It may be the fact that my eyes, especially my right, did not develop correctly and is deformed inside. The fact that my vision can't stabilize, I need a new correction every year, could also be an issue (or not). I have always been glad that they can give me corrective lenses (rigid gas perms), I've been wearing contacts since I was a child. (I've never been able to read a street sign without contacts!) Even glasses aren't an option for me, meaning I can't drive while wearing them. And contact sports, because of my fragile retinas, is forbidden. Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask again. It would be nice to see my husbands face clearly first thing in the morning. :)
