Today in Vertigo-by-Proxy

Posted by David Schmader on Thu, Jul 2, 2009 at 12:20 PM

Yesterday in Chicago, the Sears Tower unveiled four retractable glass-bottom skydecks that jut out from the building's 103rd floor, and just looking at the photo posted on Towleroad almost made me pass out.

That is pretty amazing. Particularly the shots where it's cloudy... I always thought it was really to be at the top of the Hancock Center in Chicago when the cloud level was below the top of the building, or, when it was right at the top and there was a thunderstorm going on. Neat stuff...

I saw the YouTube posted up on Dlisted, where Michael's headline was, "My Stomach Just Fell Out Of My Ass." Indeed. The reveals in the clip are deeeeliciously suspenseful.

How long before some movie reaches it's climax in one of those? Or knowing Hollywood a movie with a plot that centers on that.

I fear that some day in the future there will be an article that ends with; "Neither the Sears Tower Management or the designer of the skydecks could be reached for a comment about today's tragic accident......"

I am divorcing any family members who try to drag me up there when they come to visit at the end of the month.

PS. On behalf of the City of Chicago, I would like to thank you for not calling it the Willis Tower. Man, fuck that shit.

The sky bridge dealio at the Grand Canyon looks a lot scarier to me, probably because it's so much bigger.
