I loved Are You Being Served when I was a kid. (Geeze I'm a dork.) She was my favorite.

@3, she insisted on having it stuffed.

Wendy Richards (the other woman in the video) is dead too. Very sad.

@4 Wait, Wendy Richards is dead, too? Man.

"Are You Being Served?" was the best. Randy British humor that was ok for a kid to watch because it was on PBS.

She really had the electric hair thing going. I wonder what color her pussy was.

I grew up gay in a very religious home in Eastern Washington. My parents wouldn't let us watch anything that had a gay character, anything with any kind of reference to gays. Somehow 'Are You Being Served?' slipped through their homophobic radar. I loved it, and loved Mrs. Slocombe.

@4, that's exactly what Mr. Lucas would have said! Thanks for that.

If I were traveling in Britain anywhere near Mollie Sugden's resting place, I would have to stop and leave a lavender rose.

Many of the cast are now dead -- it's amazing that the show debuted in 1972!!! Wendy Richards (Miss Brahms) died earlier this year of cancer and had gone on to even greater fame as one of the most enduring characters on the great British weep-soap EastEnders. John Inman (Mr. Humphries) died in 2007.

RIP, Betty.

A brilliant comedienne and I have to be honest and say, I'll miss her far more than LAST week's celebrity death victims...

A toast to Mollie Sugden.

The funniest character and the finest comedienne in a show full of funny characters and fine comedians. Rest in peace, and thanks so much for making us laugh, now and forever.
