They're going to be very, very, very busy! Wow! They seem like normal people, so I'm sure they'll want their privacy, but I do hope that a few family pictures come out after the babies arrive.

Congratulations! Truly, all triplets should be raised by gays—it's the best use of the natural gay-overachievement gene since the Broadway musical. Good luck and congrats to the family.

What's that name on their first son? This article says their first son's name is Trygve. I'm going to avoid snide comments until somebody confirms that the boy isn't named for somebody's martyred war hero grandfather or something, but. Trygve?

I love how the "straight-couples-with-kids" population is plummeting but the "gay-couples-with-kids" population is booming.

I predict we'll have a "fine arts academy" or drama school on Cap Hill eventually.

Wow - they had to go to Cali to be able to pay a surrogate, often the only way to find one. Surrogacy for financial gain (such a loaded phrase that, yechh) is still illegal in Washington.

What a lot of hoops to jump through! A sweet reaction to the news they got, that all three eggs took hold.

I hope they never pose for another photo like the SGN one, though, where they dress themselves and the kid in the same clothes, in this case khaki cargo shorts and polo shirts. But somehow I think they will.

@9, it's a Norwegian boy's name.

I think Jamie should look into starting a boy band.

@11, that's just how they dress. They are that square.

Were they taking fertility drugs for thi--- oh, wait. What the f am I talking about? Are they adopting triplets? Surrogate motherhood? I don't want to pry, but I'm dying for more details!

Also: There's a rumor out there saying teachers are aware that children of gay parents do better in school ... because they are so wanted and loved so much.
Any other evidence for that perspective? Worth of deeper Slog reportage?

Christin: take a gander at the Ballard phone book - lots of Trygves (sounds like Trig-veh). It's a common Norwegian first name. The first Secretary-General of the United Nations was Trygve Lie. Check this link for proud, upstanding Trygves.

@15: Trygve is also the name of the guy who brought his dead grandfather to Nederland, Colorado and left him there. That's the reason they have "Frozen Dead Guy Days".

Look it up, it's quite entertaining.

Sorry, but Jamie Pedersen and his partner Eric ain't doin' SHIT unless they're having to haul around THREE FETUSES IN THEIR GUT for 9 months. Puh-lease. They jizzed in a cup. You want a cookie? Where's the props to the surrogate who's actually gotta do all the work in this? Oh yeah, that's right, it's a Dan Savage post so all we care about is the men and what their penises have accomplished.

Wow. Everyone is having litters these days. Doesn't anyone ever have one kid at a time anymore?

@18: You obviously have no children. Believe me, things get even MORE difficult once the kids leave the uteris and start eating, crying, shitting, and needing constant attention.

Congrats to Jamie and Eric. I hope they have lots of family in town, or money for care givers, because with triplets, they will need it.

Wow, that's going to be overwhelming. Congrats to them both on the happy event, but holy crap. Triplets?! I'd be running screaming into the street. I have several friends with twins, and life with multiples isn't easy. I imagine the difficulty increases exponentially, rather than arithmetically, with each additional baby.

I say we have a Big Fabulous Gay Baby Shower for Rep. Pedersen and Eric! They're gonna need a lot of stuff.

@18

Fine, point taken, but address the fact that it's the *female* surrogate who's expecting because she's the one that's actually *expecting* some human beings to drop from her loins in a few months time. And she's the only one who has to deal with the actual pregnancy, hormonal changes, labor, etc. Right now all those 2 guys are doing is signing checks.

Dan likes to remove females completely out of the picture (gee, I wonder why) but the fact of the matter is, for making, creating and delivering babies, which is kinda a big part of the whole family thing, they're um fucking necessary.

@23: Hats off to the woman who will give birth to these three kids.

You're right that Dan writes from a male perspective. It's a virtue and a vice.

Since this is the lead story, an exclusive scoop, in the annual Pride edition - maybe the rainbow theme is right on.

Also remember that the Pride theme was Stonewall, going back 40 years, so even tie die seems to have made a comeback for the week.

Rainbows taking a shit, how very queer, during queer week... idea for the Stranger float for next year?

@18,23

I'm a woman. I don't think Dan ignore's a woman's perspective at all. Have you really read or listened to his work? He is so far from being sexist!

And have you read "The Kid" and how he writes with so much caring and empathy about the mother his own child? And how they have worked to keep her in their lives?

Don't be a knee jerk reactionary. Please.

Wow that is great news.

Here's hoping that all three will be healthy and that the delivery will go well.

As has been stated above, once the kids arrive that's when the real work begins. At least they are already experienced parents - should make it a bit easier than if their first experience with parenting was with twins or triplets.

They're going to need a lot of support - but they're going to have lots of rewarding experiences as well.

Well said David @8

That's gonna stretch Jamie's hole out something FIERCE at delivery. I looked up anal conception on Wikipedia but could not find any info. SLOGgers, please feel free to provide insights!

Also, isn't Trygve just Ballardian for Trig, the Alaskan 'tard? That aint't right...it's too Republican and Mongolian at the same time. Capiche?

Happy triplets! Breed, baby, breed!

For hating on SGN so much, you sure to pull from them a lot. Picking on them is sort of like picking on your retarded younger sibling...it's just not fair. Just a thought.
