Survivor

Posted by Charles Mudede on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 9:19 AM

Not a boy but a teenage girl is so far the sole survivor of a passenger jet that crashed into the Indian Ocean yesterday. 153 souls were on the plane.

And it would be better if it were a boy? Why else make the distinction?

Charles is being even more of a dumbass than usual this morning. He must be drunk.

the original reports were of a boy.

what's truly unforgivable in the harsh Slog environment is the redundancy of the words "passenger jet plane."

Yes, the original reports were of a 5-year-old boy. Makes you wonder about the channels of communication.

Yeah, but was she hot, Chuck Dik?

"souls" is such a weird way to describe people. Why not say "153 ghosts" or "153 fleshy bags" were on the plane?

Or how about 153 people?

Charles just wants to see how many people he can upset by not mentioning original reports said the survivor was a boy.

Agree with all of these comments, especially 7. Why must tragedies me measured in souls?

"Souls" is the standard nomenclature for a loss of life at sea. A lot of people saw this one coming:

She should watch out. Samuel Jackson might be coming for her, Unbreakable style.

Not all planes carry passengers.
Not all planes are jet planes.
And so on.

I refuse to fly on Airbus jets. These plane are not stable, and if not for their lobbyists silencing dissent throughout Europe and the world, more people would realize that these planes have some problems that need to be ironed out, much like how Boeing had to iron out problems in their 737 jets during the 80's and early 90's... except somewhat more unstable and, with each additional fatal crash, a little less random.
