Still Out There

Posted by Brendan Kiley on Fri, Jun 26, 2009 at 9:10 AM

From the LA Times:

At least 1 million Americans have now contracted the novel H1N1 influenza, according to mathematical models prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, while data from the field indicates that the virus is continuing to spread even though the normal flu season is over and that an increasing proportion of victims are being hospitalized...

The normal seasonal flu virus has virtually disappeared from this country, as would be expected. But the novel H1N1 virus is continuing to spread, and now accounts for 98% of all cases.

"So far, it doesn't look like transmission is declining at all," Finelli said.

Well, if those million people don't start falling over dead en masse I doubt anyone will care.

I calculated that to be about .33 percent (not even 1% of US Population). Looks like the death toll is way down so that is good.

Happy Friday!!

People just need to keep washing their hands and not lick too many palms and they will be all right.

And when can we expect a vaccine for this strain?

@6: What.

At some point I said I'd go from sad to angry if he OD'd, and... rage building.

Let's just get down to brass tacks.

Wash your hands with hot (not scalding) water and soap (not antibiotic) frequently.

Cover your mouth (kleenex, hankie, sleeve, your lover's snootch) when you sneeze. Ok, maybe not the last one, they might object.

And when the flu shots come out this year - get one.

Other than that, stop panicking.

Michael Fumento has been on this from the beginning and has exposed the panic for the steaming pile of pig shit that it always has been. Sorry panic lovers, but the end of the world has, yet again, failed to arrive on schedule. You'll just have to make up another one.

I mighta had it last weekend. High fever, cough ache. Or it mighta been hay fever. I was told to stay home, drink, steam, take Advil and Robitusson and

Run to the doctor if: Advil doesn't bring the fever down, or I could not breathe. Hmmmnmm not breathing?

I hope it was H1N1 because then I would gotten off light. I had the Drink, the Advil and the Robitusson so I did everyone a favor and just stayed home.
