Sarah Palin is upset with an Alaskan blogger who did a little photoshopping and replaced her son Trig's face with an the face of an Alaskan right-wing radio ranter. A Palin spokesperson complained to Politico...

Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig...

I didn't realize that it was possible to "desecrate" an image of a Palin.

Desecration (also called desacralization or desanctification) is the act of depriving something of its sacred character—or the disrespectful or contemptuous treatment of that which is held to be sacred by a group or individual.

Does that bitch do anything but complain about people making fun of the kids she threw out on stage?

Gotta keep using the religious code to communicate with the base.

Dear Sarah,

If you make your children and grandchildren into public figures for the benefit of your political career, people will talk about them and people might make fun of them. If that is too difficult for you to understand, you are in the wrong business.

Sincerely,
Hernandez

Well let's just look at this for a sec.
"that which is held to be sacred by a group or individual"

that kid is held sacred by an individual, Sarah Palin.

If you look up sacred one possible definition is:
"regarded with reverence"

and a possible definition of reverence is:
"a feeling or attitude of deep respect tinged with awe"

So, seeing as how she's a simple minded dimwit who still seems to believe that babies are put inside of her by god, and not simply a biological process that people of any faith, or lack there of, can do she's technically right since in photoshop they removed the picture's "sacred character" Trig.

Palin has totally bought into the idea that children with developmental disabilities are saints and not real people. So, yeah, I'm sure she does see this as a desecration.

I'm also very worried about Trig's welfare in the long run. I highly doubt he's going to get the help he needs and once he's no longer a cute, easily managed prop, it wouldn't shock me if he were institutionalized.

I bet she would change her stance on abortion if she new she was going to have a gay baby.

(Provided the couldn't pray away the gay)

I think we should all just have an Offend-off and see who can outoffend who. All bets off. No subject too sensative. Be as ugly as you can possibly be and the least offensive wins.

Aaaaand GO!

Sarah must have slept thru the day in class where they talk about copyright and parody.

Or maybe she skipped out to engage in illegal acts with her soon-to-be-husband that got her preggers the first time.

@22: As it concerns our girl Sarah, this isn't a copyright issue unless she bought the rights to that photo. Her beef is a privacy rights issue.

If the photographer--the author--objected to the use of the photo, then you may have a copyright issue. And parody would be relevant to a fair use argument.

Public figures don't have privacy rights, for the most part, in regards to parody.

I'm guessing Sarah has never seen 'The People vs. Larry Flynt.' Maybe she watch too many clit flicks.

Yep, public figures have less protection, particularly with parody. Which is a privacy rights (and First Amendment) issue.

If that blue screen is the original backdrop, Palin was in a TV studio so a that phonied up graphic could be inserted behind her as is done for weather reporters. Too bad that the photo was desecrated before she had time to manipulate a fake view of Russia (as seen from her house) behind herself and the baby.

Chances are she just doesn't know the difference between "desecrate" and "deface." The woman ain't all that bright, you know.

@9 - Rob in Baltimore: THAT WAS HILARIOUS! Thanks for the link. I literally laughed so hard, I almost choked.

What a cute picture of Dan, and that loving expression of Palin, as she coddles him. I'm thinking, this picture might warrant being on my Christmas Cards this year. Now, to come up with a catchy phrase to go with the picture.

Again, thanks for the link. Loved it.
