“I could digress and say that you have the ability to give magnificently gentle kisses, or that I love your tan lines or that I love the curves of your hips, the erotic beauty of you holding yourself (or two magnificent parts of yourself) in the faded glow of night’s light — but hey, that would be going into the sexual details ...”

Oh my.

This should be a new genre of romance novel. "Elicit Affairs of the Rich and Political."

What Time Warner and Comcast aren't addressing is the miserable dreck they offer isn't worth paying for. It's why I dropped my broadcast TV subscriptions - other than the occasional Daily Show there's nothing I want to watch.

Conservatives will properly distance themselves from their liars and hypocrites.

Liberals will cry that it's no big deal, and that we should all just move on, will their willing accomplishes in the press urging the same thing.

You know, "it's the hypocrisy" is just getting really tired and old. Do we have nothing better to contribute than "our philanderers are better than yours because at least THEY never trumpeted their fidelity"?

@3: Since when has the press simply moved on from a sensational story?

The Medicare fraud story just proves that we should eliminate it once and for all and let the free market take care of the problem. And if it means a bunch of old people dying, that's just free market genetics - survival of the fittest. We all benefit.

I'd vote for any male politician who said "yup I've been cheating, many of us do. Andyou know, it was really fun and relaxing! Kinda hot actually. Why are we against sex in this nation??

Why did I do it? Well I don't think I should go into what's not happening, I mean what's happening in my marital bedroom and I would never want to discuss our marriage or my wife like that in public. So I won't answer those questions."

Ooh, a fire shower sounds nice on this blustery, is-it-really-summer kind of day.

Oh, I'm unhappy about the $5 fee for interlibrary loan. ILL is the greatest thing in the history of the universe. I'll pay it, and after this comment I'll never moan about it again, because it's so fantastic and absolutely worth it, and yes, it costs them $30+ to do them, so it's fair, and so on and so forth. But just this once, I'm going to moan a little. Whah!

This'll cost me about $100 a year, darn it.

$30 to put a book in the mail? WTF?

That's insane. They are incompetent. And if they are spending $30 isn't it insane they could mail you a coupon for $23 and you could go to Barnes and Noble and BUY the book for the library and drop it off then your branch would HAVE the book!

Those wacky southern Repub ex-governors! If they're not endlessly clearing brush on their "ranch", they must be endlessly digging holes on their "plantation".

@11:

It's not just "putting the book in the mail" that costs $30, but the time it takes the library staff person to read the request, look up the location of the book, get it off the shelf, bring it back to the work area, and process it for mailing, along with the cost of envelopes, postage, etc. Given that it probably takes roughly 10 - 15 minutes to accomplish all this, $30 sounds about right.

N. Korea's "fire shower" remark made me think of Vonnegut's "Sirens of Titan" when the Mars invasion informs Earth they will receive "A taste of hell," after which the martians are completely obliterated.

I loved Vonnegut's writing...

Until I was 13, my family existed in literary heaven in the boonies thanks to free interlibrary loan.

Cancelling it while we build a Billionaires Tunnel for Gates and Allen and give them a gold plated Mercer rebuild is ... wrong.

@14 are you suggesting that librarians are paid $120 per hour?

the new library fees are fucking annoying.

@11, 14, 18: you don't understand. The library PAYS A FEE of $30 to the sending library. No guesswork or estimates, let alone progressivism vs. neanderthalism; they simply get an invoice with the book.

And, @11, I know this is going to be difficult for your tiny little mind to comprehend, but Barnes and Noble only carry a tiny fraction of all the books that have ever been printed, and so does the SPL. The books that I'm requesting are not available at the mall. Some of them aren't available hardly anywhere at all; there may be only one or two copies listed in WorldCat.

ILL is a great and wonderful thing; and you @11, are neither. You're an illiterate boob.
