America's Next Top Twitter

The Iran uprising vs. Michael Jackson?

Jackson wins:

"My Twitter search script sees roughly 15 percent of all posts on Twitter mentioning Michael Jackson. Never saw Iran or swine flu reach over 5 percent," observed Ethan Zuckerman, a fellow at Harvard's Beckman Center for Internet & Society. He "tweeted" his report.

Twitter just had to shut down the search functionality because it was causing the whole software to freeze.

You want to generate a bunch of wrathful replies on Facebook or Twitter? Comment that Michael Jackson really died 20 years ago -- then sit back and wait for the shitstorm.

did you all think his life was no longer news?

question for the nerds - wonder if this name polls better than any other living or dead person in the last 30 years? bet it does

I am sad by any death, but for Michael Jackson only for the loss of talent and the ignominy of his ending chapters

Twitter was created in America and is still mostly an American thing.

Jackson was an American Icon.

Many Americans probably couldn't locate Iran on a map.

In sum, I don't find it surprising...
