DNC fundraiser in Boston last night picketed by gay-rights activists. And more protesters will greet clueless Dems and idiot sellouts at tomorrow night's DNC fundraiser in Washington D.C.

...from the DNC fundraiser.

He was a headliner, and he YEAAAAAAAARGH'd out at the last minute due to "family commitments", which is probably not literally his family but "family".

Next time more of us should wear top hats and monocles. Spats don't show up on camera too well, but would be fun for others in the crowd to see.

Unfortunately that sign reads "I'm against gay rights and gay dollars" to me. Oops.

And you still feel the need to ask if SLOG is too gay lately?

Take away the art, poetry, and literary "filler" posts from your count Dan. Then take away Chuck's rants, musings, and hallucinations....

and you are left with more than 80% of the remainder being gay related.

How about your crack staff gets to reporting about interesting community things besides teh gay? Did you know there is a huge marathon in Seattle this weekend? How are the Mariners doing? How about an in-depth report on the court proceedings of the lady brutally attacked by a 15 year old and her pit bull?

I could go on and on... there is other stuff in the world you know?

Or maybe you don't?

@7: Or maybe you forgot this is a blog and they're entitled to speak at length about whatever the fuck they want?

@7, Slog gets too gay when it's all about worshiping hairless men in tighty whities and bashing women for supposedly being unwilling to suck dick. THIS, my friends, is a human rights issue, which affects all of us--gay, straight and otherwise. Until we start to see gays gain access to the same rights as straights, we are all stained with this shameful reality.

@7 If you don't like teh ghey, go read another blog. In the time it took you to write your rant, you could have pulled up google and searched for "Seattle" "sports" and "blog". The first result is

http://www.seatownsports.net/

Your welcome. now get the hell out of here and don't let the sparkly pink door hit your ass on the way out. (because god help you if anything gay touches your ass.)

Dan, I think this calls for another Broadway Bares video. Can you get on that, please?

@7,

I don't see this as a "gay" issue, I see it as an equality issue, a human rights issue, a civil rights issue.

I prefer the NYT, The Wash. Post, and the Oregonian for information on other subjects.

Let's keep the pressure up. Get down to the state capitol and stand in protest. Schedule a meeting with your representative when he or she comes home for the recess.
Take action and demand your rights.

I was all for completely pulling support from the Dem's and then I was thinking about how getting up and leaving the table means you no longer have any influence any more.
It's like you become a Phil Donahue or Rosie O'Donnell. You have a lot of influence when you're a player and people see you every day but when you get up and leave you become a nobody and nobody cares what you say anymore.
One thing I learned is that politicians don't = the Party. Politicians come and go and Obama will soon be replaced by another, but the party lives forever. So don't kill the Party by doing something completely drastic like forming a Third Party just because Obama is a bigot, however, hold their feet to flames because Obama's actions have been completely unconscionable.

Reality Check, the stuff you're interested in can be found over with your likeminded compatriots on NoQuarter and RedState. Or maybe GayConservative is what you're really looking for.

@13 Sadly, more pitbull stories would be a welcome relief for awhile. That particular one at least is local, involves kids, involves 2 separate issues with the same group of youth, and using the pitbull as an actual weapon. Much more newsworthy and timely.

@16 point taken. I'd offer that if the local gay community wanted to find out their talking points on the national gay issues for that day, that there are dozens of blogs dedicated solely to gay issues.

SLOG represents a LOT of other things besides just gay issues. Hopefully you'd agree?

None of the news rags you listed would give me any local information on politics, Seattle development decisions, the local burningman scene, Who's playing at Neumo's this weekend, or snarky sexual edgy news like SLOG.

When I want my mainstream bland regurgitated AP stories, I too visit many of those same places. But SLOG is my rest stop on the information superhighway, and I come here to learn off beat stuff, local stuff, and ALT stuff. All things you won't find elsewhere like you do here...

I demand to know why Slog isn't all about ME, and what I want to read. I mean, what's with all this Seattle stuff, huh? Don't you Slog writers know I live in another city...and I lack the ability to skip over the posts that don't interest me!

@ 22,

I think you have valid points. I answered you here: http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archive…

So, I won't take up thread space repeating myself.

Peace.

@22 - for heaven's sake, skip the stories that don't interest you. As for myself, I'm-not-gay-but (jesus, that sounds like the start of a craigslist bicurious seeking ad) I'm very interested in this, as a critical human rights issue. I want my friends to have the same rights to marry their partners that I have. It's pretty basic to me.
