News How Do You Misplace A Governor?

Have you ever seen a governors' security detail? How does a sitting governor go missing?

The whereabouts of Gov. Mark Sanford have been unknown to state officials since Thursday, and some state leaders are questioning who is in charge of the executive office.

Neither the governor’s office nor the State Law Enforcement Division, which provides security for governors, has been able to reach Sanford after he left the mansion in a black SLED Suburban SUV, said Sen. Jake Knotts and three others familiar with the situation but who declined to be identified.

Sanford’s last known whereabouts were near Atlanta, where a mobile telephone tower picked up a signal from his phone, authorities said. First lady Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press today her husband has been gone for several days and she doesn't know where he is.

This story has since been updated—the governor of South Carolina has now been located. But something's up. When Sanford was missing the governor's wife said that she wasn't worried; she assumed he slipped away to "write something." Um, What? And then there's this: "I was recently made aware that Governor Sanford has frequently been eluding SLED agents and disappearing at odd times..." Something's up. Sanford is a conservative Christian—naturally—and I know where my mind immediately goes.

The most interesting part is that his wife is "not concerned." She's been at the family beach house with their four sons, not worried that her husband drove away days ago and she has no idea where he is. He missed Father's Day. What kind of politician misses Father's Day with his kids?

hmm he left the beach house he was at on Sullivans Island? what an idiot. I'd love to live on the island if I could because the beaches are beautiful there and it's less crowded than the beaches 5-10 mi south of the coast.

sounds like he's off fucking some intern. maybe rove and cheney grabbed him for some covert GOP operation.
