Barack Obama, Soccer Fan

Posted by on Mon, Jun 22, 2009 at 4:13 PM

Some of you thought it was a little far-fetched to suggest that the election of Barack Obama might have something to do with the popularity of the Seattle Sounders.

Fair enough. But is it really that far-fetched to think that this, if it indeed happens, is going to sell a few more Sounders tickets?

FIFA president Sepp Blatter ... told a media briefing: "The World Cup in Africa will go well, there is no doubt.

"And the man who said, 'Yes we can do it' will be there. President Obama has accepted an invitation to the opening ceremony.

"Of course, the schedule of heads of state can change, but he has said he will be there if he can."

I say not far-fetched at all.

And, for that matter, I would guess that Obama's recent trip to grab some frozen custard can't be anything but good news for this place.

Can someone please tell me one single thing Barack Obama has done as President so far besides destroying the economy and giving away 2 Trillion dollars in tax money to the wealthiest people on the planet.

What do you have except a petty pawn who is completely ineffectual?

LeBron James was at the White House last week, is the President responsible for his popularity? If the President makes an entire sport popular why is it that his beloved White Sox aren't as popular as the Cubs? Please stop writing about sports, if thats what anyone considers soccer to be. You're out of your element.

Mariners have more people at games and higher ratings, same goes for the Seahawks.

If this is the best you've got on him, then no wonder, no wonder.
