Re: Garfunkel and Oates Coming To Seattle

Posted by Dan Savage on Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 4:38 PM

Their August 22 show at Re-bar has sold out. Uh... gee. We're going to see if we can convince them to come up for two nights. Stay tuned.

A second show? How then am I going to sell my tickets to the first show for $1000/ticket?

I'm with stinkbug (1) except I wasn't going to scalp mine, I was just going to use the fact that they were sold out to get a woman who is obviously to good for me to be my date.

Maybe move it to a bigger venue? Neumos/showbox?

C'mon - like you didn't already arrange a second date? This absolutely HAD to sell out.

@10: Of course it "HAD to sell out" after all the Garfunkel & Oates tastes that Dan's been giving us - now he's got us hooked.

Dan, do you happen to know what day they will be playing Toronto? There's no info on them appearing yet on the festival website. Thanks.

Honestly? Besides a certain passion for 'em on Slog, we didn't really have a good read on what demand would be like. So we thought one show to be safe. We're calling G&O and asking if they can come up on Friday night too.

It would be so awesome if the second date was at a venue that was all ages or even 18 and up

I know its two months away and all...but I've never been to the Re-Bar. (and honestly don't go out to many concerts/clubs/shows)

-Should I show up early to get a good seat/standing place?
-Will we be waiting in line and then all let in when the doors open or can I come early and have some drinks before the show?

Well, yeah. Re-Bar holds about 15 people.

For some reason they remind me of The Girls Guitar Club (which featured the dreamy Mary Lynn Rajskub).

OMG, I missed the first post. I love Garfunkel and Oates, even before Dan did. Yes to a second show!

Two Polish truck drivers are barreling along when they come up to an overpass. A sign says, "Clearance: 11"2'." So they get out, measure their truck, and realize that it's 11"6'. So the first man looks at his friend and says, "I don't see any police around... let's go for it!"

Seattle deserves a better venue than Re-Bar. Every time I watch a show there I can visualize the eventual wrecking ball comming throug the wall
