The big news: The Guardian Council has agreed to recount votes in contested areas—publicly admitting Ayatollah Khamenei may have been wrong when he blessed Ahmadinejad's victory.
Rumors say Mousavi won't accept the recount, which would be a fork in the eye to yesterday's cynical theory that Mousavi orchestrated all this hubbub to strengthen his hand for a backroom a power-sharing deal.
Ahmadinejad's in Russia and in denial, calling Iran "the most stable country in the world" and saying "each and every Iranian is a nation in itself, a pillar on their own, and they stand in the face of all enemies and resist them."
That's got nothing on "one person = one broadcaster."
(CNN video here, which which Ahmadinejad also makes an ominous reference to the "traffic light" joke he told about Mousavi earlier, saying he "is not happy" with the person who's run a red light. He also dodged a question about guaranteeing Mousavi's protection.)
Meanwhile, Iran has barred foreign journalists from reporting on the streets:
The rules cover all journalists, including Iranians working for foreign media. It blocks images and eyewitness descriptions of the protests and violence that has followed last week's disputed elections. The order issued Tuesday limits journalists for foreign media to work only from their offices, conducting telephone interviews and monitoring official sources such as state television.
So today, again, Twitter becomes our main source of information and rumor. Andrew Sullivan's your man for the one-liners coming out of Iran:
security in Jamaran is unbelieveble - hundreds of Baseej guarding KhameneiTehran hotels under high security to stop Iranians from contacting foreign press
