U.S. Sen. John Ensign (R-Nevada) confirms that he had an extramarital affair with a campaign staffer. The staffer was also married. Ensign voted to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage and voted in favor of a ban on adoptions by same-sex couples.

I am pretty sure that is actually the mayor of New York, who has had a few extramarital affairs, including with a noted Transylvanian transsexual.

Blah, don’t these assholes have any self awareness of their hypocrisy?

“Protecting marriage” indeed.

Of course, I don’t think monogamy is the be all and end all of marriage anyway, but if you are going to prattle on about “traditional” marriage, at least you should do it right!

When Mr Poe sees this, he's going to take a one-way trip to Boner Cove...and who could blame him.

but the lack of an upper lip is a turn-off...along with the whole homophobic crap and rampant hypocrisy.

According to marriage traditionalists, only gays are required to be monogomous. Straights get a pass, because there is a ding-dong and woo-hoo involved.*

* Ding-dong and woo-hoo credit goes to Julie in Eugene

Man, I'll bet this makes non-straights so angry they'll march down to the local courthouses and apply in mass numbers for marriage licenses.

No?

@5 Technically only the man in the straight relationship that gets the pass being as how the *woo-hoo is to be used for poping out children from a particular ding-dong; not just any ding-dong will do you know. And I am pretty sure they dont want gays to have sex of any kind...(at least thats the Catholic Dogma I am used too)

*personally I prefer the term whoo-ha, as I feel it is a bit more exciting to say but I will respect the use of woo-hoo for the sake of clarity in this response.

Tina @ 12,

Excellent point, thank you.

* I agree whoo-ha does indeed have an element of excitement that is lacking in woo-hoo.

They might as well publish the more boring sex scandals, along with XXX photos, in Roll Call.

It could be like The Sun's "Page 6 Girl."

He also demanded Clinton resign due to the affair, IIRC.

I prefer the hybrid hoo-ha (only in an abstract euphonious sense, though).

And Ensign, senator of a state a mere 20 miles from me, is the very embodiment of ding-dong-ish-ness.

The absence of Poe is mute testimony to his current activity.

All of these comments calling Sen. Ensign a hypocrite are being totally unfair! Obviously he had an affair because his "traditional" marriage was hurt by gays getting married in MA. Everyone knows that now that ze gays can get married in five whole states the foundation of every straight marriage will crumble and there will be mass extramarital woo-hoo and ding-donging.

perhaps it would be easier to ban all marriages instead of some.

adultery would become impossible, for one.

I'm sick of:

a) the hypocrisy; and, at the same time,

b) The endless attention to other people's sex lives. Must we care? Shouldn't it just be a matter for the individuals involved to work out amongst themselves?

@1, do you mean Rudy Giuliani? He was the old mayor of NYC. The current one, Bloomberg, as far as I know, hasn't had any affairs. But I also don't live in NY full time anymore, so maybe something happened that I don't know about...
