Another gay bigwig—Alan Van Capelle, Executive Director of the Empire State Pride Agenda and Foundation—has pulled out of the DNC's gay fundraiser scheduled for June 25. If you haven't yet called openly gay members of Congress Barney Frank, Tammie Baldwin, and Jared Polis to ask them to pull out of the DNC's fundraiser, here are those numbers again:

When I called Frank's office his staffer was rude and in a hurry to get off the phone (and didn't want my name), Baldwin's staffer was gracious and said she was upset by the DOMA brief too (and promised that a statement from Baldwin was forthcoming), and Polis's staffer was businesslike and told me he'd relay my concerns to the Congressman. Call them now if you haven't already.

I just called all three and the staffers were very polite and friendly.

Same here; Frank's staffer didn't seem rude to me, or in a hurry. Tammy's staffer was great. Polis' staffer was pretty much how Dan described; once he'd gotten my name, number, etc; he said he'd add me to the tally and hung up.

Hopefully that's just a sign that they've been getting tons of calls asking them to pull out.

My responses were exactly the same as Dan's (as I mentioned in the earlier thread) - Frank's staffer was rude, but did at least ask where I was calling from - but not my name, while the other two staffers asked for both.

And Tammy Baldwin's staffer was by far the nicest, and the one willing and able to give more information on where her office sits on the matter.

maybe if we pull it out and shove it back in and repeat as necessary until the DNC are begging for the ultimate release, we'll see some results.
