As far as the young lady at the end of the segment: Who would of thought that Jan Brady had an abortion?
btw, "I left my baby dead in a toilet" sounds like the name of one of those bands you always see advertised on Capitol Hill. Sorry if that sounds crass, but the histrionics of the anti-abortion crowd is just so overwrought. I don't know how anyone can listen to that crap with a straight face.

13 years old getting a late term abortion? Where the hell where the parents at? Its not like that little thing could have hid her pregnancy, she is thinner than a rail and at age 13 someone in this girl's life should have noticed. Maybe they did. Maybe her parents should have taken her to get an abortion sooner instead of waiting until the third trimester. Obviously this kid is traumatized by all that she went through, and O'billo is taking full advantage of her 'teary eyed' story. What a fool. That woman from Salon called him on his shit and all he could do was pull the old tu quoque on her.

It's specious to say that the drugs won, because what would it be like if the war was never fought? In that sense, it could be viewed as a neverending war of attitition.
Do you want cocaine sold at every Wal*Mart? Do you want parents to keep their stashes in the kitchen cupboard.

I don't love the repetitive "it was legal" argument... But, I was pretty happy with the last bit about how if anything, he's the one with blood on his hands.

I've read a few of the stories on A Heartbreaking Choice about women who've gotten abortions from Tiller after their fetuses have been diagnosed with some severe health defect. Their descriptions of the procedure most certainly do not involve a toilet (and if she was getting an early abortion, I'm sure a toilet wouldn't be involved either).

Julie, it has very little to do with the truth, and everything about either being a victim, or expressing excessive self-righteousness. The entire conservative movement is based on those principles, as is most religious fundamentalism.

I don't get the harping on how much time Dr. Tiller spent with his patients. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the case that with MOST medical procedures the patient sees the doctor very little and is mostly cared for by nurses etc.?
In either case, from what I have read Dr. Tiller was always very kind and present with his patents, and his clinic provided funeral services to the fetuses whose parents wanted one. As @11 said, that interview probably has very little to do with the truth.

BTW, this was a particularly good AHC story (if there is such a thing), describing a woman's experience, including the diagnosis, decision, procedure itself, dealing with protesters, etc.
Original Monique was the one who first shared this website... it's pretty eye-opening in terms of the importance of the work that these doctors do and the cluelessness of the protesters.

Beating the living crap out of Bill O'Lieley would be well worth doing six months or so in jail.

"Chinese Muslims" isn't really the best term for the Uyghurs who are being released. The Uyghurs are not ethnically Han, nor do they necessarily speak a Chinese language (Uyghur is a Turkic language), and there's an international Uyghur separatist/Independence movement. It would be a little like calling Tibetans "Chinese Buddhists."
(Sorry, I know that sounds pedantic, but I feel that terminology is important. And "Uyghur" is a cool-sounding word)

BillO sets up the interview with Kelly as if Dr. Tiller dragged her in off the streets against her will. I know it would require the skills of a journalist, but BillO should have asked Kelly what she expected when she went to an abortion clinic.
