Tonight's Soccer Match

The Sounders are in town playing the San Jose Earthquakes. Game starts at 7:30 pm; broadcast is on King 5. Seattle hasn't won a match since April 25, though that match was against the San Jose Earthquakes. In a first for The Stranger, I will be blogging from the stadium, along with the real sports writers. If you care about the Sounders, you will probably be there in person and not at home reading about it on your computer, and if you aren't at the game you'll probably be out enjoying the fantastic weather, but if you've been injured in some horrible accident and you're bedridden and your TV is stuck on King 5 and you want to follow along, I'll be here. Put your thoughts in comments and I'll embed the good comments in the post as we go.

Here's the Sounders-produced preview of tonight's game:

(That wall at the top of this post is across the street from The Stranger's offices—covered in Sounders posters. Sounders must have a marketing street-team. The posters keep getting covered up/fucked with by other posters and crap, and then the marketing street-team puts up new posters, and then they get covered up/fucked with again. Since the faces keep getting covered over, I've come to think of this wall as an art piece about how Sounders players keep getting suspended/ejected from games. Jaqua, Keller, and Montero—three of the five names you can see, and three of the team's stars—have gotten red cards this season, along with two other teammates.)

What a waste of a press box seat. You should send fnarf instead and produce some real commentary.

Completely unrelated:

What is the point of all this technology when noone can tell me what the hell has been going on in Cal Anderson Park for a couple hours now!?! I can hear cheering and people babbling on a loudspeaker from 10 blocks away - but noone is using their fucking TWITTER, SLOG, or CHSblog to give me the live info!!??? What's the use? I don't care if you just brushed your teeth, ate something interesting or are waiting in line! The news is fucked! Give me news!
I guess I'll have to fucking walk over there if I want to find out.

Carry on.

Totally agree, Meatbot 3000. Fnarf should be sitting here. If all goes according to plan, he will be joining me in this glassed-in, over-air-conditioned press chamber for an upcoming game.

I love the art piece! Did you see the one with Madonna, Obama, The Dali Llama and a Llama? Faces that rhyme! Now that's genius.

Oh yeah. Soccer. go team. go.

Is Jaqua a lama, that's awsome, I'm guessing lama's don't have to play by the rules.

Anarchy Group has been covering these faces religiously every other night or so. Nothing personal against the sounders. We just think it is tacky to take advantage of space used for free by local bands and artists to promote shows. (Ag rule #1 don't be tacky) They have a budget and should advertise on billboards, and buses. Some dorsh bag is making good money marketing on that free space and I don't want to see the poster space lost to snazzy marketing campaigns. (Ag rule #2 no rules) Anarchy Group has modified the Sounders ad to reflect just how tacky their approach is.

One evening while we were out a man stopped his BMW SUV in the middle of the street to take my picture with his iphone. "There I caught you vandalizing he screamed." (then drove to Mad Beach to dump his trunk full of six pack rings into Lake Washington) I've been wondering where that guy is, or if he saw that I was posting my own face on the wall. How fun would it be to see him rouse a police officer to look at the vandal on his iphone. "Oh yes Mr. Dorsh, we'll get on that one right away... NOT!"
