Given a choice between the alleged horrors of affirmative action and the actual horrors of lynchings, poll taxes, Jim Crow, etc., Pat Buchanan will take "the old bigotry"—because, hey, at least it was honest.

I think MSNBC has Buchanan on because he's so outlandish, so racist, that he discredits the conservative viewpoints.

I think MSNBC keeps Buchanan around so they don't lose the angry old bigot audience that would follow him to Faux news if MSNBC dumped him.

He's fucking crazy, but honestly... I think honest and upfront discrimination is a lot easier to fight than institutionalized and subtle discrimination.

Interestingly, during the Nixon administration, Pat Buchanan was an advocate for affirmative action... for Catholics. I will have to get some documents I've found in the archives published.

Oh and regarding #12's comment. I wonder if he'd be for affirmative action for me since I'm gay, black and was raised as a 'guilt'-free catholic (yes they exist). But I'm sure he was referring to white irish catholics.

The Irish got where they are in this country by an affirmative action program of their own. All police and fireman were Irish as once they started making the hiring decisions they kept it that way for many years.

There was nothing honest about the old racism. It lied about blacks' innate intelligence and ability to control their sexual urges, for starters. It was all based on lies. The mere accusation- almost always false- that a black man had raped a white woman would immediately get that black man murdered by a lynch mob. All those lies were meant to conceal that whites were exploiting blacks for their own gain.

According to the US DOJ, in the year 2005 alone, black men raped at least 37,000 white women. That same year, white men raped between zero and ten black women.

I find that statistic highly suspect, and I couldn't find it anywhere on the DOJ website.
What I did find was that in 2006 only 18% of rapes were committed by black men, while 49% were committed by white men.

Blacks make up only about 12% of the USA and whites make up about 75%... so for a group that makes up only about 3% of the USA (adult black males), committing 18% of all rapes is still VASTLY DISPROPORTIONATE.

In the USA, in the last year alone, blacks killed about three times more blacks than the entire number of blacks killed by all the racist lynchings in US History combined... but for some reason we still have to hear blacks whine about how whites beez keeping them down n'shit.
