Film Noir

Cross-examining Amanda Knox:
1412/1244949364-picture_2.png

When questioned about wrongly naming her part-time employer Patrick Lumumba as the killer to the police, she said she became so confused after "a steady crescendo... of 'I don't know,' 'you're a stupid liar', 'maybes', and 'imagines' that ... I was led to believe I had forgotten things".

"When I said 'Patrick' I actually started to imagine a kind of movie, images that could have explained the situation, Patrick's face, then (Perugia's) Grimana square, then my house on the night of the murder," she added...

Even I see a movie in all of this.

I've told you, Charles, it's already been done. Robbe-Grillet's "Glissements Progressifs du Plaisir". The story's been told the way you want it to be.

Man, even our police use confusing and deceitful "interview" techniques to get confessions (or in this case, inconsistencies which implicate guilt) out of naive suspects. This is a gigantic cluster-fuck of a trial. I don't know whether she's guilty or not, but she at least deserves a fair chance. She's gonna do thirty years in an Italian prison because a hotshot prosecutor is more concerned about his career than her life.

Charles,
I agree. I told a friend Friday that this sordid tale is definitely movie fare. I like the still, its taken from "Double Indemnity" featuring Fred MacMurray & Barbara Stanwyck. Great film.

I assume, Charles, that you've been hard at work on the screenplay...

@5 Even you, Charles? What does that mean? You've seen a screenplay in this from the beginning. But good for you. It keeps you from wandering Cap Hill at all hours, pie-eyed on red wine.

@6: that is irrelevant to the facts of the case.

i hope the italian jury has enough relaxation time this summer to get around to freeing these 2 in the fall.

and someone needs to start working on guede's actual guilt or innocence - he got railroaded.

Film Noir by Charles and not a single mention of Black Lightning winning the SIFF award - the frickin Golden Space Needle.

That said, you want film noir, go watch Inju, The Beast Within.
