Via—and something of an explanation—at Towleroad.

Did that make more sense with the sound on?

I'm not going to read the explanation, it will give me something to ponder for awhile.

It's definately provocative, but I didn't catch his message. I thought the title, "NO SAFE WORDS" was more provocative from the human rights stand point, and the idea that Pride events are being infiltrated with people pretending to be part of the community, people who will participate, but who are not safe.

"Members of the University of British Columbia football team allowed themselves to be fake waterboarded as part of a provocative short film that deals with human rights and what the filmmaker sees as the conformist nature of Gay Pride events."

Anyhoo ... That's my uncaffeinated take on things.

I am dense... I did not get, it it seemed Greek to me..
Nonetheless, despite the hot bodies , the references to Pinochet and Hitler as well as waterboarding are no matters to be taken lightly. But still I had a hard day here In Greece and the joke definitely escapes me... May be after a good southern confort on the rocks I might understand it...
Enjoy your day

if it was some political statement, it failed.

oh, and that's not waterboarding. it's bad enough Cheney and the gang lie about waterboarding not being torture, now we have left wing yahoos misrepresenting what waterboarding is.

and really, what is wrong with these fags? being accepted is bad? getting support from all is bad? is their rainbow only black and blue? growing up, i wish i had gay firemen and police proudly marching in gay pride parades and straight firemen and police supporting them. i never quite related to the guys in feather boas and jock straps, or leather chaps though i looked damn good in all of them back then. ahh, youth is wasted on the young...

Canadian filmmaker Noam Gonick made a short film featuring hot football players getting "waterboarded" with rainbow underwear over their heads to make a point about how police and military participation in Gay Pride parades show that gay conformists are "willing to do anything to get the approval of the state."

The message got lost and the message is stupid.
