Are You Coming to Slog Happy?

Posted by on Tue, Jun 9, 2009 at 12:38 PM

This month's Slog Happy is THIS THURSDAY at King's in Ballard (5225 Ballard Ave NW—you can get to it on the 18 or 44 bus routes). Slog Happy doesn't officially start until 6 pm, but their happy hour kicks off at 5 pm and includes $5.50 sliders, $2 pints of Hamm's ($6 pitchers), and $3 wells until 7 pm.

Right now, King's also has a three-star rating in our reader reviews!

Hayleyra says: "OK, I love onion rings but King's has the best I've ever had. Ever. I'm serious. You must have them."

Hollywood says: "Seriously...I am not looking to go to a bar and have 18 kinds of martinis...I want a good selection of beer and some stiff drinks...Kings has both. These guys make awesome burgers. This is a place to listen to good tunes and have some drinks with friends, and the back bar is the best kept secret in town on a sunny day (okay it's Seattle, any dry day will do)."

And Ronan says: "I've taken a lot of friends to King's, and we all love it. The burgers are great (the sliders are damn tasty) while the selection of beers on tap affords a great variety."

See you Thursday at 6 pm!

(And for those looking for something to do afterwards, Throw Me the Statue is playing the Tractor that night at part of the Noise for the Needy festival. That's just down the street from Kings!)

I'm okay with that, so long as they settle their differences over Skeeball. Winner gets a plate of sliders!

Didn't King's used to get four- and five-star reviews? So if it's down to three now, that means it's been getting lots of one- and two-star reviews lately.

Where did that bitchass go? He says he'd like to take a crack at me at a Slog Happy, then immediately hides when I take him up on his offer. I know he's here, he's still commenting elsewhere. Just not around me.

Mr. and Mrs. Fnarf will be in attendance. Beware; in person I can bore a person into unconsciousness at eighty paces....

@8 Fnarf, you were one of the people the husband and I went to the last Slog happy hoping to meet; am willing to risk getting within 80 paces for a conversation... and if Joh's gonna be there all sexy like and Mr Poe might have to smack a bitch? Who knows.. must come to Slog Happy to find out!

@9, in anticipation I will bone up on some pet topics, such as "Bus Models and License Numbers in the Northwest of Britain, 1964-1980" and "Early Computing History I Can't Quite Remember The Details Of" and possibly even "Colonoscopy Horror Stories You Hoped Never To Hear".

I think my father-in-law is an expert in the subject of "Early Computing History I Can't Quite Remember The Details Of", Fnarf. You and he would get along well, with your talk of punched cards and microprocessors and zzzzzzzzzz....

I'm afraid of Ballard. I've heard horror stories about people getting stuck in traffic on Market Street behind grumpy old Scandinavian ladies driving 7 MPH, then getting viciously attacked by angry axe-wielding Vikings. But I'll try to make it anyway.
