Garfunkel and Oates

Posted by on Mon, Jun 8, 2009 at 9:33 PM

"The power of SLOG has apparently propelled the girls to national attention on CNN," writes Slog tipper Drew.

No doubt SLOG did the trick. Couldn't be prouder. And watch this space for some exciting news about Garfunkel & Oates...

I just checked out some more of their songs, and they're wonderfully creative with great voices! I hope they gain more success!

Congrats.

Glad you survived the local See's being closed. Hope you found your Cashew Clusters, those things are darn good. In fact, I enjoyed one today, my youngest's teacher loves See's candy.

My self esteem is not low enough to date you.

Well, I guess I'll have to get up and go into the other room where my laptop is since my g1 doesn't support whatever that player CNN has is.

Kim @3, I hope Dan isn't too jealous that you are able to enjoy the very treat that he is denied.

Seriously, great news that the gals are getting more press. It is well-deserved.

Can hardly wait to see the details of the forthcoming "exciting news about Garfunkel & Oats" - very exciting.

Especially since we know that you wouldn't get us all worked up and excited unless there was the possibility of an anticipated payoff.

@ 6,

I offered to drop some off for him. (The offer still stands.)

It is great news for G&O.

I know you're tongue in cheek, but in truth they've been the darlings of the internet for some time. Boingboing.net loves the hell out of them and posts all of their tracks.

In addition to this, I stumbled upon CNN playing the "Total Eclipse of the Heart (Literal Version)" earlier this evening. Perhaps they'll start including ECDAMAF posts now that they are stealing your emerging pop culture/social currency/water cooler thunder.

"No doubt Slog did the trick."

Some doubt, Dan. Just a little.

But congratulations for also being a fan.

#11, I second that emotion. Let's put these two on hiatus. Unless they start doing porn, in which case please let us know. But no more precious music.

I'm not about to watch their whole video, but do they ever stand up when they're in that bathtub? Just curious.

@ 13: Maybe this was CNN's lame attempt at pointing out some straight people support gay marriage? Made me cringe too.

Yeah: I'd heard of these talented women before SLOG, but am happy to see them get more play.

My husband watched this video and realized he went to high school with the brunette singer. It's a small old world out there.

I just hope they don't get too big or Art Garfunkel and John Oates may cease and disist their asses, but I suppose they could be called The Andrew Ridgeley Experience.

It's always hard to get the national media to focus on pretty young girls singing about wanting to get laid.

People are just like that.

Good job, SLOG.

@7: I know you offered (and I was kidding about him being jealous), but I'm not surprised that he hasn't (yet) taken you up on it - since the ritual of 'getting' is almost as important as the 'having'. Otherwise he could just bring some along with him as he travels, but it's the getting out, walking, and obtaining the treat that is the reward.

Hyzenthlayk9

I knew you were kidding as well. My husband writes fiction, mostly short stories, and I spent a couple of years writing Bible studies. So, I get the reward and the ritual. That's why I offered.

CNN showing straights in favor of gay marriage

making fun of antigay arguments as idiotic and silly

is spot on.

Now, if they would only laugh at Cheney, Rush etc.

I don't see the entertainment/charm factor in this act. They annoy me and seem just a bit to precious. Life goes on...

all pat roberton's commentary is laughable. if it takes girls in a tub and a song about sex with ducks to expose the right wingnuts as the social chicken-littles they are, i'll suffer the song. someone had to do it.
