For Your Stomach's Consideration: Free Frozen Custard!

Is frozen custard better than ice cream? Megan says yes, but decide for yourself: Today at Old School Frozen Custard on Capitol Hill, free single-scoop cones for everyone from 3 to 10 p.m. That's seven hours of zero-cost deliciousness. It's bound to be mobbed. Will they stop people who get their cone and then just get back in line?

Why is it being compared to Ice Cream? Does it want to be Ice Cream? It's not Ice Cream it's Frozen custard, which is wonderful in its own right. No need to be ashamed.

I tried it the other day. Meh. I'll stick with Molly Moon.

Really rotten timing on the promotion, with a cloudy cool day.

I agree absolutely with Sargon, and I would add that we could use a Gelateria that serves Granita somewhere around Cal Anderson too.

Free frozen sugary mayonaisse? I'll pass. If this was a craigslist free stuff posting I'd flag it as offensive.

It was far from mobbed, it was actually kind of empty considering they were just giving it away. I have to agree, I will stick with my Molly Moon. On a side note, did anyone notice they totally ripped off Molly Moon's decor?

Just got back - plenty of people were outside and sitting in the shop, but the line itself was short and moved FAST. Very friendly vibe, and the frozen custard was delish. I am glad I got the warning about how fast it melts though.

I'll be going back!

It was okay, definitely creamier than ice cream, but not so "OMG! THIS IS SO AMAZING" that I'll be making frequent visits.

It was fairly busy an hour ago when I was there. Custard was good! I got a Chicago dog too that was pretty legit. I'd go back if I was in the area,

The chocolate didn't taste like anything. The sundae combinations looked interesting, but overall I was unimpressed.

First off I live in Wallingford and have been to Molly Moon in Wallingford. 2nd, the non friendly fucker who works the night shift at Molly Moon's on Cap Hill doesn't know the meaning of customer service. If you have people waiting in line for 10 minutes to be served, you don't fucking tell them to go home at 11. Tell the last person you see standing in line that it's closed after them. With that said, the customer service at this custard shop was much better than Molly Moon's on the hill. Molly if you're reading this, your Wallingford location and their staff rule. You Cap Hill staff need to learn some customer service skills.

The custard was ok but it wasn't grandiose. But giving away free products is the best publicity for a new store. Do unto others who do unto you.

i'm glad it's there: it was tasty, and decent soft-serve is of my faves...

It was creamy, sure... but the vanilla tasted exactly like McDonald's soft serve. Don't get me wrong- I love McD's soft serve, but it's not enough to beat Molly Moons.

@10. Don't you know that ice cream jockeys and other service industry workers on Capitol Hill are so much cooler than the people they serve that they have earned the right to blasely ignore them or treat them with disdain?
