Santorum Froths At Mouth

Posted by Dan Savage on Tue, Jun 2, 2009 at 8:14 AM

You would oppose Sotomayor if you could oppose Sotomayor, Rick, but you can't oppose Sotomayor because your constituents turned your frothy ass out of the Senate. So STFU, Rick. And as for this characterization of Sotomayor...

Bias, elitism, the politics of separating people into classes and racial and ethnic pigeonholes are not what one would expect from a nominee of a president who promised to get us past that.

Get past this, Rick.

Dan - I was there when you came to Philly to help take Santorum out of power. Watching you live was one of the best chances I've ever had to spend twenty dollars . I'm glad that your cross country flight wasn't for nothing; it never should have happened in the first place, but we did manage to vote his ass out! Please come back to Philly when you have time.

"Bias, elitism, the politics of seperating people..." is a perfect description of Republican politics. Santorum is a stupid ass.

Isn't it a bit early in the morning to be putting mental images like the one generated by this headline in to people's minds?

My favourite line from Blow's article: "all I see is men throwing skeleton bones from class closets."

After all that talk about Santorum's terrible politics: I happened to be visiting my mom in her rural PA county on the election day when Santorum lost. She had heard so little real information about Santorum that she was about to vote for him because she knew his opponent had questioned abortion rights. (I told her about sleeping with the fetus.)

Perhaps the most telling line of Santorum's article:

"But the Supreme Court is the final word on what the law is in our country. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible for the other branches of government to override its decisions."

Unfortunately? Think about how different our history would be if it had been easy for the other branches of government to override some key SCOTUS decisions.

@10,

I'm sure Santorum would vastly prefer that alternative history.

Yeah, that's why the Founders described our three-headed government as a "system of checks and balances"; because they were astute enough to envision the possibility of a bat-shit crazy executive branch imposing it's will on a cowering or kow-towing legislative branch, and realized only a fully independent judicial branch would be in a position to prevent bad laws from being enacted and administered.

@4 - you're defined by who you hate? That's sad...

Dude, no one wants frothy Santorum near their mouth. Please think of our delicate sensibilities.
