Batman Fan Film Is Violent, Arty, French

Posted by Paul Constant on Mon, Jun 1, 2009 at 1:48 PM

Topless Robot just posted this French Batman fan film that has sex and violence and swears:

This thing leaves me scratching my head. I know there's a pretty potent fan culture in France (like those people who made the Green Hornet fan film, which I've posted after the jump for those who haven't seen it before), but why would you make a fan film if you're going to completely fuck up the source material? Isn't the basic, secret idea behind any fan film the hope that maybe the film will be so good that you'll get hired to make a real movie? I can't imagine DC Comics doing anything but slapping a giant cease-and-desist order on these guys.

Speaking of weird fannish impulses, this week's most NSFW use of giant novelty Mickey Mouse gloves has to be over at Way to Suck That Dick.

Oh man, I am a HUGE GIANT FAN of Richard Kadrey. I knew what those pictures were before I even bothered to look. His photography is wonderful.

Well, there is always the chance that you are wrong about "the basic, secret idea".

In the face of evidence, you could always reconsider your assumptions. It's some sort of "method" - ask Golob about it.

damn, that was pretty dark. I don't think it was wrong of them to spin their own take on batman. They should be able to make their movie however they want. Sooo many people in hollywood butcher original stories up anyways; at least these filmmakers have a better concept in mind and don't rely on lame marketing queues to "appeal" to certain audiences. And plus even if this is just like a portfolio type movie, they've done exactly what they should have. They're displaying their skills and techniques as filmmakers and actors. Regardless of the story they are still able to illustrate these dark and intense scenes very well. A couple years before Batman Begins came out there was a pretty high quality fan film made of Batman, The Joker, Predator, and Alien all in one movie. They have this crazy fight as each character appears one after the other. Now talk about a wack story, right? Those guys definitely got jobs working on high budget films including the new batman movies. A movie like this is all it takes to get a job working on a bigger film.

In all the varied versions of Gotham City in the Multiverse, there is none where Batman has a douchey bobo beard. Simply unacceptable.
