I had no idea, and I'm a little surprised despite his being half of the most effete duo in TV sitcom history. Even Will and Jack didn't touch these two on the epicene scale.

I applaud him - really. :-)

Funny thing is his co-star, Kelsey Grammer is a big time Republican but also a recovering alcohol and coke addict. I think if they created a show where these two actors lived together and played their real selves it would be quite entertaining.

The first two minutes of this clip I thought to myself - "Wow - I have no idea who that guy is but he talks and looks just like that guy from Frasier."

Then I googled his name.......

Could his body language toward Hasselbeck have been any more telling? He kept his back to her almost the entire time and never let her get a word in.

Love him all the more!

I thought it was common knowledge that Pierce is gay. So is, Dan Butler, the guy who played the woman chasing, chauvinist sportscaster on the show.

I like the perspective he presents, it seems like something most people could relate to - how would you feel if people you didn't know got to vote on whether or not you can get married? I really haven't heard it presented that way, at least not very often.

He DID turn toward Hasselbeck after saying indirectly "excuse me, it's none of your business."

i suspected he was gay, but it's still his business when he wants to make that information public. i thought he did a wonderful job here, making it very personal in a positive way.

He and his partner have been together 25 years.

Those fucking gays... destroying the sanctity of marriage.

The CA Supreme court is not to blame for Prop 8 as Hyde Pierce suggests, they in fact said Gay and Lesbian couples COULD marry. Hence he's married. It's the Radical Religious Extremists that got the initiative on the ballot that are to be held responsible.

Yea, Urgutha Forka, there oughta be a law, or at least some constitutional amendment to keep gay people from being married and happy.

Wait, what?

The California Supreme Court did what?

Sorry.

Go on about yerselves...

I didn't know he was gay, no. So I guess it worked then.

But what the frag does he mean he didn't play a romantic lead?

I have always loved DHP, and I knew he was gay though he was never bold about it...it was just always an accepted part of who he was, which is how it should be. I am SO happy to hear that he got married! Hopefully we'll fix CA soon so all couples are free to marry.

His big coming out was actually in his speech after he won his Best Actor in a Musical Tony Award a few years back.

Also read a few places that the actor playing the dad, John Mahoney, quietly came out within the last year. So three of the four male regulars of the series came out! Pretty impressive.
