While it was cute and well made it significantly misses the point of the issue. I don't think the point is that Mormons took away butt plugs, dildos and poppers and the gays continued with their foam party. While I think the creator took pleasure trying to poke fun at gay stereotypes. The real fact is that if the gays went back to their "foam party" and left marriage alone Mormons would be very happy. Marriage is for dirty old men who love lots of little girls.
I wonder if this would be OK if this were a cartoon mocking and defaming Jews and their culture? I still don't see a difference between anti-Mormonism and anti-Semitism, what exactly is it concerning the way it shapes attitudes toward a group? This seems the same.
As someone who has defended the LDS church in the past against the accusations of heresy by its sister protestant churches, I find their lack of empathy for another minority regarding marriage to be inexcusable.
And I don't like how they regard native Americans.
And I don't like how they treat women, monogamous or otherwise.
After Prop 8, the LDS, including my own relations, can burn for the sport of their own persecutors, for all I care.
Well, if an overarching Jewish organisation/synagogue/whathaveyou had poured million upon million into taking away the rights of people who enjoy BLTs and ham, then I don't see how it would be antisemitic to mock and vilify them for it.
But then again I don't see how it's antisemitic to criticise and vilify the state of Israël for the Palestinian apartheid, so I may not be the best judge.
@14: You are 100% correct, and this is coming from a Bat-Mitzvahed, Passover lovin' Jewish gal.
Anti-Semitism is the irrational hatred of Jews for its own sake, not the thought out criticism of a State or organization that does not necessarily (or at all) the Jewish population.
Same goes for the Mormon thing. I have Mormon friends. They are not married to underage girls. I have no problem with their belief in the Garden of Eden being in Dixie, or magic underwear. I just have a problem with the over-arching organization and its goals.
