Republican governors don't meet many Hispanics—nodding at housekeeping staff in hotel hallways doesn't count—so who can really blame Mike Huckabee for this?
The appointment of Maria Sotomayor for the Supreme Court is the clearest indication yet that President Obama's campaign promises to be a centrist and think in a bipartisan way were mere rhetoric.
It's Sonia Sotomayor, Mike. They're not all named Maria.

ugh. that statement is the clearest indication yet that our political system has followed the entertainment world down the path of insincerity and antagonism for antagonism's sake. That paragraph could be written with anyone's name attached - it wouldn't make a difference. There's no analysis or discussion in this pre-prepared statement that actually links the conclusions to the entity 'Sonia Sotomayor,' besides the fact that she was chosen by a Dem president.

(blank)'s appoint ment is a clear indication of the partisanship of Barrack HUSSIEN Obama. As indicated by )blank)'s history of being an activist judge. We believe that (blank) being appointed to THE HIGHEST COURT IN THE LAND would be a radical departure from the country's center-right political leanings. I will do my best to make sure that (blank) is not seated!

I think it's funny, but I don't really think it's that big of a gaff. I remember reading some commenter confusing your name with Michael Savage. Maria is more common than Sonia, and at least he got the last name right, and maybe he just really likes West Side Story.

When reached for comment about the day's events Sonia Sotomayor said she felt, "pretty and witty and gay." When asked to elaborate she added, "And I pity any girl who isn't me today."

As my hispanic husband points out often, "they're all Maria and Jose." (We know four "Maria and Jose" couples. My children get confused...)
