What? Do they really think that we'll last another 5 million years? I would guess that we'll all be extinct by then ...

This assumes that no advances are made in reading and, more importantly, writing DNA and RNA between now and T+5,000,000.

Of course they could. They are younger, evolutionarily, than "females."

The amount of genetic variation between men and women as a whole is less than the difference between any two non-related individual humans.

But then chr24, chr25, and chr26 are not as "fixed" as you seem to think they are.

we already are extinct. We are all zombies, and we've come to eat your BRAINS!

Or your leftover pizza, if you have any. Mind if I check the fridge?

If men become extinct, who's gonna take out the trash?

the male Y chromosome was dying and could run out within the next five million years

Man, I want to be around in like 4.5 million years!

By the way Jen, I saw you at the Gong show and I have to compliment you on your glasses. You're naturally very pretty and your glasses are perfect for your face.

Not as long as we keep fucking each other. and with medical tech keeping more and more of us alive and more and more of us breeding, the gene pool is actually expanding, not contracting. Men won't/can't go extinct in the current modern world breeding. If trends over the last 30,000 years continued, sure, but we have demonstrated we don't give a fuck what nature would direct. Much like the next 5 million. Any prediction would be just as good.
