If Atheists Ruled the World

Posted by on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 7:25 PM

(Sorry to do two in a row that are just from You Tube, but a wormhole is a wormhole. And sorry they're both just there to make non-atheists look credulous and silly, but fuck, this is killer. And it's Sunday!)

If Atheists Ruled the World features (I think) actors (Canadian, maybe?) speaking words transcribed from online Christian fundamentalist forums. I know, I know: making Christian fundamentalists look dumb is easy. But that doesn't mean it isn't the lord's work.

P.S. Sorry if everyone already knows about this, too. I don't look at You Tube enough, clearly. 450,000 views lead me to believe i might be really late to the party.

I like it.

Man, it makes a piece that infuriated me with it's utter stupidity into comedy gold!

Come on, Atheists really don't give a shit about how you worship long as you don't shove it in their faces.

Funny, yeah, but I got it after about 30 seconds. The rest of the time I was like, ok, ok, just tell me something I don't already believe?

Same problem with Dawkins and Hitchens... You don't need 3000 words to tell me what you have to say in 30 words.

But I guess, for me, they're preaching to the converted, so who knows, maybe christians can really be swayed by this? If not, than this is pointless.

It was interesting to watch. I recognize the phrases. It didn't sway me, but then again I'm not a fundamentalist.

As hard as it is to believe that people still believe this sort of nonsense, fear is a very powerful force . . . even when faced with the absurdity of their views, the religious would rather over-think their reasoning and dig themselves into more overly-complex positions that conflict with the actual universe we live in to avoid conflicting with what may lead to their eternal suffering in the supposed afterlife. Never mind most religion's convenient methods of repeatable forgiveness for one's "sins," the fear of suffering and not going to heaven is a really high hill that many of these people just can't overcome under any circumstance.

My forum posts have been read on the radio by actors. To like, you know, make the point they're trying to make about how you should listen to what they say and not read blogs or whatever. Maybe they didn't have a point. Airtime ain't going to fill itself, right?

IF atheists ruled the world we would have to have huge police forces and build bigger and stronger fences, door, locks, etc.

Creation and Evolution are both God's Creation, Regeneration, Improvement Plan.

@5

I borrowed "The God Delusion" from the library and couldn't even make it past 100 pages. THERE IS NO GOD. OKAY. WHO GIVES A SHIT.

I loved both Hitchens' and Dawkins' books. Also loved Treatise on the Gods by Mencken. I guess I just like good writing, even if I already agree with it.

#11, lots of people give a shit. Maybe you're just not one of them.

It just seems like the equally pointless counterpart to theology.

@12,
I like their writing, don't get me wrong, but they really do repeat themselves a lot, especially Dawkins, and it just gets tiring sometimes.

I wonder how good the comments from a Dawkins forum would sound. Prolly just as silly and uninformed in a different way.

That accent was way too Degrassi.
