that calorie labeling thing is pretty useful, but not really enough to keep me from buying $2/1000 calories worth of apple pies from mcdonalds daily.

You mentioned swine flu and chopping up animals for soup.

You know what that means!

re:Debt

Give Obama credit;
he has a lot of Gall.

He borrows $2 TRILLION
his first year in office then
chides us about debt.

(In the linked article Obama blames the debt on health care. If we run a $2 Trillion deficit without his plan what will it be when he starts covering another 50million people?)

Yea for nutritional labeling at Restaurants!

One of my pet peeves is when people rant against McDonalds (deserved) but then go to eat an equally bad meal at a different restaurant.

BTW, Chefs...it's easy to cook a great tasting dish full of butter and fat. Try to make an amazing meal under 750 calories, and then we can talk about skillz.

Keep an eye on California.
That's your Welfare State collapsing under the weight of taxes and spending and debt.
Expect it to get ugly.
It's a show that will be coming to a state and city near you soon...

Maybe the sell of san Quentin would help to reduce the deficit, it to be worth more than $2B though.

it's amusing how the title of Savage's post "That's Not Food" is juxtaposed right under the bowl of soup like a caption.

OK carmine (as you've decided to call yourself today), either you're stupid or you're assuming the people reading your post are stupid.

If Obama hadn't spent the $787 billion on the stimulus and hadn't spent the second half of the TARP funds, we'd still be looking at a $2 trillion federal deficit. Why? Because revenues would have dropped dramatically on account of this nation having collapsed into an actual depression.

Somehow, it's hard for me to imagine that you were such a stickler for fiscal discipline back when the Bush administration was:
A. Spending $800 billion on a reckless military adventure, with no way to pay for it.
B. Committing trillions of dollars to the Medicare prescription drug program, with no way to pay for it.
C. Demanding $700 billion for the bank bailout, with no way to pay for it.

C. may well have been the right thing to do, but somehow I don't think you're in the mood for a serious discussion. Just like I don't think you're man enough to actually respond to my calling you out on your crap.

The Federal Government only collects two and a half trillion a year. In order for revenue to drop enough to create a two trillion deficit 80% of all Federal revenue would have to disappear. This deficit is the product of wasteful panic spending.
It disgusted me that Bush took the surpluses he inherited and ended up with deficits. Imagine my horror when Obama QUADRUPLED the deficit it his first year and projects trillion dollar deficits stretching out for a decade.

If you are going to borrow money you should have something to show for it.
Neither the stimulus nor TARP give any actual benefit.
Obama multiplying the mistakes of Bush is hardly the change our nation needs.

Calorie labeling is my favorite thing right now. I've lost 15lbs in the last few months just from watching my calorie intake--it's amazing what they try to pass off as a serving of something.

In other news, Pelosi is under fire for calling the CIA liars. She's sticking to her statement. Conservative senators say she's lying but have no proof; and Bob Graham actually backed her up pretty good saying the CIA misleads congress all the time.

OK back to soup, food labelling and tired old debates about whether deficit spending gets you out of a depression how do you think we got out of the depression wasn't it ww2 spending you right wing idiot (what is your plan btw).

Let me see, spend money in the USA to create jobs here, or ship it to GOP comrades overseas.

I'll choose USA, thanks, Bob.

6- Tax and spend? Thanks to Prop 13 we can't tax. When Gray Davis tried to raise car fees back to thier original amout (like an idiot he originally lowered them) he got recalled. California used to be amongst the top in education and services. But thanks to Howard Jarvis and his Neo Anarchist buddies we've shrunk gubmin't too small and can go any further and we still have a deficit. Hooray! No services and the debt!
